@lmerrick such a tough topic. The only person I trust to look after my Basenjis is my sister. I don’t think I would ever consider boarding them with anyone. But, I completely understand how inconvenient that can be. I wish I had an answer but I really don’t

I'm afraid If I do decide to get another I won't have a chance to introduce them beforehand as it Will probably be a puppy I bring from the US.. I doubt there will be a problem since she will be a young puppy…

Hah! Basenji500 - I love it! Paco's been doing it ever since we got him, I just didn't know it had a name. :P Our apartment is built like a train, just one long line of rooms, so he loves to fly up and down, jumping off furniture the whole way. We ran a cable between two trees in our long driveway, and use a d-link to attach an extendable leash to it so that we can play fetch outside whenever he gets a little to antsy.

Tell me more about your furbaby personality and how long you will be gone. There's also the new boarding place at the airport run by the humane society.

Magnum's breeder is always willing to board. I've only had to do it once (for four days), but he came back his normal, happy self. Although I'm sure he didn't get the human lovin' he gets here at home, he got a lot of doggy interaction, which he doesn't get here at home. Since Mag's breeder is within a 1/2-hour drive from us, it was a no brainer. I realize that that's not generally possible, but, if you're close enough, it's definitely something to check out. Also, since we didn't get Magnum 'til he was over a year old, he was very acclimated to his breeder's environment. When we dropped him off, he was so happy to see his breeder and her family and his old-time buddies, he didn't even wave good-bye to us ;) . That was important to me, too. And the rate of $5 a day didn't hurt either.
