Basenji in a windstorm!

Basenji Talk
  • Hey Everyone, thought I'd share a quick story about the puppy…

Yesterday, Bassit made me laugh and laugh. We've only had her for about 2 weeks now, and so this is the first really windy day that I've walked her. It was the longest, funniest walk of my life. Every single leaf that blew by caused her to stop, stare intently at it, stare up at me, and watch it again! It completely blew her mind!

  • LoL, Rocky does the same thing but he goes chasing after the leaves… that is of course until he sees another leaf that grabs his short attention span :)

    B's are just awesome.

  • That would be a cute video to see, the pup and the leaves.

  • Gossy does that when we go for walks - it's funny but also a little scary when she's staring down a leaf in the street and cars are coming.

  • God forbid a leaf blow nearby when Ruby is trying to poop, because that is pretty much the end of any output from her. She is too much…a very short attention span. :D:D

Looks can be so deceiving- here is an article of a woman who adopted a rescue dog in N.J. Dog looks like a basenji - even her vet thought it might be basenji. She did an Embark DNA test - no basenji. Turned out the dog was a mixture of Mountain Cur, Rat Terrier, Beagle, and Boston Terrier. link text

There's nothing like a basenji in the works, from the way they instinctively lay with their had on the bum looking the other way ( I've never met a B that doesn't) to the way you KNOW they all rub on wet towels or play bow…it's all very endearing and in this breed you often identify traits that they all have, an insight into their genetics and their behaviors. I've never enjoyed a breed so much.

I have found that if I take my B to doggie daycare (even if it's only for half a day), she is ehausted when I bring her home. She will let me do the dishes without any basenji help! She also tends to treat our doggie friends a little nicer when they come around. Having a worn out basenji is deifinitely worth the $15!!

OMG, TRUST me…its not only ur baby, Jack has some seporation anxiety, i mean, we rescued him so that may be why, but i Always feel so sad when we leave him, he runs to the window and crys when we leave, but i KNOW it wonly lasts until he cant see us anymore (driving away) my neighbor watched for me. but SOMETIMES he does get into things when we leave for too long. like the other day, when he ate my betta fish food...grr...
