Argh, this weather is lovely, but…..

  • So, I'd mentioned in another post that Washington's been hit with a big snow.
Our oldest daughter lives in the Spokane area, where they have over 2 ft on the ground now. We've been trying to get her home for Christmas and it's making me crazy.
She was supposed to drive home over the weekend, but the mountain passes were closed, so we got her the last seat on a flight Sunday afternoon. Then the Seattle airport closed!
The trains were all booked and/or cancelled but we managed to get a seat reserved on an Amtrak bus for late Christmas eve afternoon. NOW, they are predicting another 5 - 12 inches for Spokane, which means the mountains will probably close again.
She just called me – 5 AM here -- to say that there's a Greyhound bus today with a seat available, so she's booked that and is hoping to get out before the new storm moves in.

I can feel the hairs turning gray!
I'm not saying anything to the other kids; don't want to get their hopes up again. They are very upset that she may not be home for Christmas.
Cross your fingers for her today!

  • Yes, its awful. I deliever the mail, or used to until the snow got soooo deep.
I hate not getting the cards and gifts to my customers.
I hope you have your family together soon.
Sigh, seems we are getting more snow tomorrow…

  • So, greyhound sold her a ticket on a canceled trip. It's apparently been canceled since yesterday, but they sold her a ticket for it today.

Now, she's decided to try to drive it and hopefully beat the incoming storm … alone and tired.

This is going to be a very, very long day. It's a five hour drive in clear weather.

  • Hope it all worked out (I used to live in Moscow Idaho and know her hazards well) and that you all have a merry christmas afterall.

  • Thanks! She DID make it home - took a while, but she's here, safe, and we're having a great Christmas!

    MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!

  • Merry Christmas…I'm glad she made it...what a mess you've had with that weather!
