@Motala - That is good that you talked to Jan and glad to hear that she had not been spayed. I still think that your Vet and you should connect with Dr. Gonto about your girl's blood work and blood gas results and if he has any thoughts about it.

Hi, everyone!
I'm a newby from CT. I don't own a Basenji yet but fell in love with this breed and doing my research now trying to get all the info. possible to figure it out if this breed might be a good match for our family (we have 3 kids ages 12, 6 1/2 and 19 m.o.). I own dogs since 1984, currently have 5 : 4 Chinese shar peis (ages 1-6 1/2 y.o.) and a 3 1/2 y.o. Great Dane. Also a cat a bunny and a rat. All of my dogs are show dogs, finished AKC CHs or currently being shown/pointed, OFAd, very well-socialized and super friendly and outgoing.
We also foster for a rescue group. I'm a staying at home mom with plenty of time. We live on 15 acres, 3 separate fenced areas.
I've been on the message board for a while, just reading the posts. I find it very useful. Lots of information. Looking forward to make new friends.Welcome… and when considering a Basenji, best to visit with breeders if you can... then you get a much better picture of what having a Basenji is like... or there are a couple on the list from up your way that maybe you could hook up with.....

Thank you very much for your welcome!
I'm taking it very slowly and seriously considering pros and cons.
I'm aware of the health tests involved and the importance of finding a reputable breeder who will also consider our situation (other breed involved with breed specific issues and also kids of different ages and other pets factor). While puppy will probably be easier to introduce I'm well aware of what is involved in raising one and that a well-socialized adult might work as well. I have a very good handler that has finished a number of dogs for me.
I would love to foster a basenji but then again I know what is involved and most likely our home wouldn't be approved (unaltered dogs, a cat and kids). -

Love the pics!! I was searching for the Great Dane in your pics.. and then I figured that the ears are different here than in the US! Haha..! He looks amazing! They all do
Here with "Dutch" ears: -
I couldn't figure it out how to post them so you wouldn't have to click on the links to be able to view them?
Beautiful dane! I love them with natural ears as well.

I think Alex (admin) will fix that for you
Best thing to do is upload your pics on www.photobucket.com and then post them via the URL. It's free and very simple!

Oh, now I can see them!
I used to use Shatterfly I think but it's just so much quicker/easier just to be able to download them from the PC.Here's a few more of my dane!

Haha, great shots!

oh my gosh, your dane doubles as a step stool!!! LOL. that hilarious. Contrast that to me and my basenjis where I am their stepstool. Wow, thats great. Where in CT are you? I am in Wethersfield and I have 2 B's… have you ever met any B's? I'd be happy to meet you with mine if you want to see some "in real life"....

We are in Granby.
I've met Basenjis but didn't really have a chance to interact with them.
I would love to meet!
