A friend of ours talked to the woman with the 7 month old female today. The original owner was older, got her from a shelter (as a Jack Russell) and she was just too much energy. The current 'foster' took her to help the original owner, but she has several other dogs, the basenji has already escaped once. She has chickens, etc., and her husband wants her re-homed soon. I saw a (poor quality) photo and she looks pure basenji but has one drop-tipped ear and barks occasionally, she is intact still. No one I know is up for a youngster like this, but we are asking around. If anyone out there is interested,I'll help with transport.

Must. Stop. Cruising. Basenjis. <sigh>How can there be so many precious pups out there without homes?</sigh>

Well, its tough when you see how many need homes, but thank you for posting these dogs.
Maybe someone who is in the area can find room in their home to help a dog in need. -
Okay, that one is a sweet thing… makes me sad that someone gave such a beautiful girl up. Sniff, sniff, why can't they all have homes filled with love?:(

Yes it is… but with BYB and internet advertising, shipping puppies all over the country... and no real screening of potential homes... pups are purchased... and months later when they are way too much trouble... given up.... and this is not just our breed, but all breeds....

OH!!! She is so cute! That is so adorable!

Yes, the "I want it now" folks will always be an issue with rescue.
SIGH -
She's adorable. And obviously food motivated. Would be easy and fun to clicker train her. She would surely make a fun dog to take to nursing homes.
