    I am/was about to get Saba's and Ochre's Thyroids tested, but, I was reading some documentation, possibly from the Apu site, (??), that it should be done approximately 100 days after their season. As you guys are aware, the southern hemisphere dogs are just coming out of their season, (thank dog :) !!!), now. Question is, should I wait a few months to get them tested ???

    Who know you could have bitches like me…
    that come in 2x a year, so there never is an opportune time to test... as they never read the 6-months clockwork calendar!

    Again I will have to wait for this test to be done…

    Khani's, our dogs first birthday pressie was info on how to be a good doggie, and follow all the rules Mummy has laid down for them ;););)... I cant believe that they wont follow the manual...

    @Abaihya think you need a new Vet, no way should the Thyroid blood test be that price.... They draw the blood and it is sent out....

    The more data that is in the data base, the better people can use the that information as this is a Linkage test only… and errors can be made either human or test....

    I have the same idea Maya. I have heard that there are very few carriers left in the world, and that the disease appears to have nearly been erradicated, BUT, to my way of thinking, if there are even a few carriers left in the world, then Im sure I would be the "lucky" one who would put carrier to carrier, so testing for me was VERY important… Im actually a bit anal about testing anyway :D

    @dmcarty: re: puppy mills and testing only one parent - I know for a FACT that at one place the sire of several years of litters was not the sire - it was a male who had good papers so his name was listed even though he was DEAD. One of the PM's males was the sire of several litters attributed to this OTHER dog. (I happen to know the person who owned the substitute sire) So it is unfortunate but the testing will only be as ethical as those who provide information to the test. Geez I hate to even say that but I am afraid that it's true. No doubt about that… and another reason to only look at AKC who has a DNA parentage program for high volume breeders...
