Kiya's Going Into Heat???
-
I do believe she is going into heat. Her back end has been a little red the past few days and a small amount of clear discharge has been coming out.
When I woke up this morning she was swollen more than usual and keeps licking herself.
Oah Joy  My cute little baby is becoming an adult. why can't they just stay puppies. Time seriously goes by too quick!!!!!This is a whole new chapter for us. We've never dealt with this before.
Im going to need some advice. What do I expect? I know this is going to last around 30 days. Since my male is fixed will his attitude change? Will there be more aggression? Should I keep em separated?
Now I have to start putting out blankets and cleaning up after her. ARGH!!!Im excited but sad at the same time. My little pup is becoming a woman :o

Aww. They grow up too fast don't they?
This may be a dumb question but…if you were to spay a female before it's first heat, will it ever go into heat? Or are you not supposed to get a female spayed until after its first heat? Just curious because I hope to add a little girl to my family next year.

I was told by multiple breeders to wait till they are a year old before you have them spayed/nutered. They never mentioned waiting till after a first heat. hmmmm. Good Question

Depends on the dog…. I have usually spayed (if I am going to spay) before the first season. If you wait till they are a year, they will have had a first season.... As long as the bitch is heathly, spaying a 6 to 8 months is fine, IMO... some people like to wait till they are done growing, however then you have to put up with 30 days of them being in season... neighborhood dogs, male dogs in your own home after the bitch (neutered or not as a neutered dog can "tie" a bitch, just not produce puppies).. bitches after the boy to breed her... yes they are sluts...
Bitches can get really "rotten" when they are in season.. clingy, moody, no different then us humans. And they can and many time do think they are with puppies... get milk, get fat....get really moody and what I always referred to as the "funk" for two months after they have been in season (two months would be when they would have had puppies if they were bred)... and yes, they can get preggers at that age.And once they are spayed they will never come in season
And yes, Vanessa... Chance will change... and so will she... in the beginning of her season when he comes sniffing around she will roar more then usual at him... when she would be ready to be bred, she will "hound" him... the minutes she is past breeding time, back to roaring at him.... oh and you might find times that she humps him.....
Have fun!!!!

A huge benefit to spaying prior to the first season if the girl is not being shown or bred is that the chances of the girl developing breast cancer later in life is very significantly reduced.

OMG!!!!!
Sounds like we are going to be for the time of our lives!!!
This morning when chance came up to sniff her she really attacked him. I never seen her that "nasty" towards him. She is usually a little nasty towards him but there was a little more punch in this one. LOL
Poor chance…she already picks on him and he takes it....now its going to be 100 times worse! Poor guy!!!!! -
