At the river

  • We took our kids to Island Ford on the Chatahoochee River this morning. Here are some pics.

Andrew & Booger on the rocks.

Carrie & Lola on the rocks.

Booger contemplates jumping into the river to get some ducks.

Whatever smells are on this rock sure are interesting to Lola

I just like the way this shot is framed by Booger's rear end

Booger gives a big basenji grin

Cool shot while we were running. Not photoshopped or anything. Just neat.

And when we got home, Lola's new collar & leash were in the mailbox!!

  • Great photos of their fun adventure! :)

  • The four of us will definitely have to join you some time. And our annual park pass just came in the mail. Sweet.

  • It looks like all of you got to enjoy a wonderful hike. Thanks for sharing the pictures!

  • Great pictures! Looks like you guys had lots of fun! :)
Walking over the log bridge with a B in your hands looks scary to me..

  • Awwww! How fun!!:)

  • A fun day..thanks for sharing.

We would love to have you! We're thinking about getting an annual pass, too. We've already been 4 times in less than a month. The kids really enjoy it, despite the fact they have to be on leash the whole time.

Its not quite as bad as it looks… only about 10 feet over a creek bed. It wouldn't be fun to fall, but they are pretty good about being still while you hold them so we didn't worry about them throwing off our balance too much.

I am not in your area, but ... you should know that dog training is about teaching you how to interact with your dog, as opposed to teaching your dog how to do things. Most area Kennel Clubs offer training where you are your dogs partner in the class. The things you will learn will last your lifetime. I applaud the non-punitive approach. A lot of people fly off the handle when their dog chews on the wrong thing, or doesn't quite have potty training down. One of the best things you can do is give them love when they do it right and don't react when they don't. Recognize that he's just a pup. You can trade an acceptable chew toy for your shoes, and you can avoid the problem by closing the closet door so your pup can't get to your shoes. Accidents will happen and learning to potty doesn't happen overnight. Just provide a lot of verbal love when the pup gets it right and don't react when he doesn't. Love and praise are the best tools in your training bag. Congrats on your pup. Can't wait to hear about all of your adventures!

Congo is definitely spoiled but I always try to find places for him to be off leash. Thanks!

Wow, what a beautiful place! So envious!! We are currently setting up a petition to get some FENCED dog parks in our area. The last time they were ready to begin construction people in the neighbourhood protested that they didn't want an ugly fence in their park…though they wanted an even bigger fence around the kids play area. sigh
