  • Hello an welcome to the forum, please grace us us with pictures

  • @Sibbas:

Hi, I live in the UK and have owned Basenjis for 24 years. Used to be quite active in showing, and bred a few litters but no longer breed, and my youngest Basenji is 5 so not much showing now either.

    Hello fellow brit:D

It's nice to see someone from the UK on here apart from myself.

    What is your affix?

  • Hi Seko
My affix is Keriquel (which is a place in France, I understand!).
    Hi WBL
I'm sorry to say I have no Basenji pics on this computer but I will sort that out.
    Hi Basi
    I know you! :)
    How are you doing?

  • Hi there I thought it was you;)

    I'm fine thanks.

I take it you are no longer showing the Basenjis then?
Are you still showing the Sibes?

    Jenny

  • I show Harvey (the 5 year old) very occasionally and try to to show the huskies a bit, but the cost of showing in the UK now has increased so much it's just not possible to show as much as I'd like. Pity, because I have quite a few young huskies who could do really well, including 2 with a CC.

  • @Sibbas:

    Hi Seko
My affix is Keriquel (which is a place in France, I understand!).

Yes, 2 villages in Brittany are called like that!

  • Welcome to the forum - tell us more about the beasties you still own. :)

  • @Rafismom:

Thanks to the amazing Cheryl-Hanks mom and Kevin and Dr. Gonto we are on our way to trying everything known on Fanconi. All your posts meant the world to me! Rafi is not going to have an easy road-we caught it very late.

    Gabrielle

Could I just ask - as I'm new to this forum but not to forums in general - why has this post and the one that follows it been made in my introduction thread? I really do think it belongs somewhere else.

  • It probably happened by accident. If a person is in a hurry and didn't notice that the first post in a thread has changed they could accidently post to the wrong thread. The Admin can probably fix it.

  • I moved the conversation to the right thread, it must have happened by accident.

@elbrant That's how all my 8-some learned to catch. If food dropped on the floor - you lost it ! So they all stood on their hind legs and it was like feeding a nest of fledgling sparrows. A gentle toss of the treat and someone caught it !

Most people incorrectly use the terms dominant and dominance with regard to dogs. Here is a good blog post by Dr. Sophia Yin on the topic. http://drsophiayin.com/blog/entry/dominance_in_dogs_is_not_a_personality_trait

Whatever she is, she's a little doll. It's nice to know that the displaced pups are finding such good homes.

Welcome to the forum. Great story too. I especially like the description of your other dog "Betty the Sheprador Chowtriever ." That's Funny! My basenji/whippet mix also came from a local shelter. She wasn't there long enough, or perhaps they didn't know much about bs, but they only had her listed as whippet mix. Didn't take long for a dog savy friend of mine to mention the word "basenji." No doubt in my mind, she is basenji and something. I picked her out and my mother paid for her. Best Christmas present I ever got!
