I know. I think that meeting him will put most of my concern to rest. From what I have seen of his pictures he is a wonderful dog. His foster parents have said that he is very well behaved. I have been working with Judy Stahl, she was a very big help when weezie got sick, and very understanding of the whole thing. I think that we are going to try to get everything worked out after the first of the year. Until then I am going to keep working with weezie making sure that she can make the transition from a one dog household to a two dog household. If you can offer advise on the subject please free to tell. I am learning the hard way that with basenjis you must learn to think outside the box. For instance just the other day weezie decided that she would crawl under my couch and tear the fabric from the underneath it. I could hear something while I was sitting there, I looked under the couch and there she was with a pile of fabric lying beside her. :eek: Just when you think that you have controlled the destruction she will always find a way to tear something else up. I think that is why I love her so much. Even as my children grow up (way to fast) I will always have my perpetual child.

You said a mouthfull there. Mine FINALLY passed the destructive phase when they hit about 12 years old. :rolleyes:
I really have no idea why she decided to tear the bottom of the couch apart. The look on her face was priceless, it was an: oh no busted face. I still laugh about it. I am a little upset about the couch but I don't think that she did anything more to it than my kids. My thought my kids ruin the top and the dog ruins the bottom. 360 degree destruction 365 days a year what more could a person ask for. lol 
With mine it usually start with something like a loose thread. Pretty soon after worrying at the loose thread they have a small hole, then a bigger hole, etc.

We got Keoki from a good breeder, and he came from good stock, but he has baggage – like his weird fear of feet 
. He's only recently over snapping angrily at anyone who dared step near him while he was lying down. And for a long he'd attack -- snarling and all -- if a person wiggled their toes. It was bizarre; I'm wondering if he wasn't accidently stepped on as a pup?
We pet him gently with our feet sometimes and tell him what a good boy he is. We had to do something because our feet were in constant danger, LOL. He's learning now that feet can be friends. :rolleyes:
Any way, now he's pretty okay with feet most of the time, Although, still if dh wiggles his feet or toes toward him, Keoki will jump up and play- jump on dh's feet and then start doing the puppy-play-hop thing and the B500 starts.
He is such a goof!
So, yeah, everyone has baggage, but most of it can be worked with.
I'm sure that someone else has already told you that you should try to have the dogs meet somwhere other than at your home or yard. A park maybe. If it's not too cold ( ) bring along some dog bath sheets and wipe them both down with those so they smell the same (or use them when you bring them in the house)
Make sure that when you feed your dogs they are in their own space. Kennel, room etc. Food fights are not fun.

I live across the road from our local school so I am going to meet him there with my girl. I am hoping fingers crossed that they will get along. I have such a nervous excitement. And wouldn't you know it all week my kids have been sick with the flu bug. I said you watch I will end up with it on monday. I am so excited. We planned the meeting while every body is home. I am almost wondering if I should have done it while my kids weren't home. Then after weezie and the new dog meet pulling my kids from school a little early to meet him. I know I have to go into this with cautious optimism, he might not like my kids, weezie might not like him. That way I wouldn't get the sorrowful looks from my kids if he doesn't work out. I have been stressing to my kids (and myself) that he might not be the right dog for us. He will be the one to decide. There is also the question how will be act after his foster leaves. I know first hand that when a dog is in a strange environment they may get a little snippy. I have chosen to use umbilical with him because I wouldn't trust him around my children for awhile. If you can offer any other suggestions I am always open to hear them.

True, life as you know it will cease to exist. It's amazing how much change one more dog can make. On the other hand, it's also not long before the new situation becomes your "normal" and you begin to forget what it used to be like.
Although there will surely be some parts of your new lifestyle that won't thrill you – like now, when I am trying to type and there are two Basenjis growling and wrestling by my chair, one of which keeps diving under my legs to seek sanctuary, so my wheeled chair is being bumped and moved around -- but you won't want to trade it for the world!
I can't wait. I couldn't have lucked out more, the new dogs foster is wonderful. There was some question on how he would act with my children and he has been working with the dog making sure that he would be up to the torment that my kids would be putting him through. When I asked when we could come to see him, he responded "oh, I was planning on bringing him to you. I want to make sure that he is comfortable in your home". I thought what a wonderful person, I live a good four hours from this man. When I offered to pay his way he declined stating that BRAT would pay for the whole thing. I couldn't believe it. He is bringing food for him among other things to make his transition smoother. I couldn't ask to meet a nicer person.

Welcome to the forum (warning - its very addictive). There's a thread on here somewhere that dealt with bringing a new dog into a basenji occupied home. You will find some helpful hints there.

I will post some soon. Weezy chewed my usb cable to attach my camera to my comuter, I am waiting for a new one to come in the mail. I kept finding all of these little black pieces of plastic all over the floor, it took me a few hours to figure out what it was then I found her secret hiding place (under the love seat in my childrens game room) I only found about two inches of it intact. Grrrrrr. My fault I shouldn't have left it where she could find it. Thank you for the warm welcome!

No not yet, I picked them up Monday and I'm trying to get to know them, since they are very timid at first. I hope to get them posted soon so they can find a forever home, I think they are gonna make really loving pets! They are very sweet B's.
weeziesmom- I'm sure you are very busy with your new addition, all 4 of mine are sleeping now so I have time to relax, but when you get a minute update us on how its going and we would love some pics!!
