• I know this was mentioned in another thread, but I thought I would put it here as well.

Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is on TV, Monday and Tuesday. USA Network, 8pm. Basenjis will be judged during the day on Tuesday, and some lucky dog will represent the breed in the Hound Group on Tuesday night.

After breed judging is over, you can find out the results and you can see it on streaming video here:

    Enjoy πŸ™‚

  • WELL i was disappointed, i did my research and its come to my knowledge, that NO basenji has ever won best in show at west, and in fact has only once has a B won best in breed (group : hound) idk, im just wondering why i guess…o well...any thoughts as to why? im guessing politics!!

  • wow that brindle was fabulous! all of them were gorgeous! i love it when they self stack. yall wait, next year fender will be there. haha. he would chew the place apart.

  • I remember that a basenji won at the Crufts dog show in England a few years ago.

  • Yes a basenji won Crufts in 2001. My mum owned his auntie until she passed away.
I like the brindle alot that won BOB at Westminster, very striking!

  • I was pouting (ok, not exactly pouting, just sort of) that the B didn't win BIS and my DH says "Well that's just because it wasn't OUR Basenji!". We both looked at Giz and he proceeded to lick his behind. So much for that!

The people we got him from said he was a show dog with his original owners, but I don't know if that is the case. They also said he was most recently (before them) owned by a breeder. He is extremely well behaved for a stud dog that didn't get much human affection, so I guess we just don't know his history πŸ†’ Mystery Giz.πŸ†’

  • I actually went to West this year & I took the afternoon off from work to see the Basenjis πŸ˜‰ and it was REALLY great because our breeder was there with one of C3's relatives! El Dorado Echo Skies (or something like that) competed & he got honorable mention 😞 😞

The brindle that did win the breed was very nice looking & the FUNNY thing was that when they were going to place him for his winning picture he put his paws up on the table sniffed the table & then proceeded to HOP ON with NOOOO help LOL πŸ˜ƒ LOL it was so hysterical!! All the other small dogs are placed on the tables ha ha ha!!

My little boy C3 finished & I guess our breeder didn't continue to show him once he finished. DH thinks he could've won WEST BIS too!! LOL πŸ˜ƒ πŸ˜ƒ

Us B parents have high aspirations πŸ˜ƒ

  • @jys1011:

competed & he got honorable mention 😞 😞

uh…..getting an Award of Merit, or honorable mention is HUGE at Westminster! Something people brag about πŸ™‚

Lucky you for getting to go! I have always wanted to, but never actually feel like traveling in February!

  • ha ha I guess I REALLY wanted the little guy to WIN πŸ˜ƒ due to the storm a lot of people were stranded with their dogs in NYC. Lots of cancelled flights.

  • was it the red and white without the full collar? that was my personal fav, but what do i know?i love that even though they are at this fancy dogshow they still jump up and act basenji-ish. πŸ™‚

  • i love it when jack does that psycho thing where he jumps in a mini circle with his head stright up, lol,. like a bolt of electricity schocked him, hehe
