I have decided that as soon as I have the extra money I will do the DNA test. The thing that got me was when I was reading about the Basenji breed. It was like I was reading about Hank. The more I read the more I was saying ok who did a story on my dog. There were a few differences but so many were spot on. He is stubborn as can be and one thing that really stands out is. He loves to have me take his rope toy and I will stand with my legs a bit apart and then tease him by going like around the outside and inside of one leg. Hank will sit there and watch and I swear he is trying to like figure out a pattern or something. He will not just go back and forth like 99% of dogs would. And escape artist is a understatement for Hank. And the list goes on.
My boys are smoochable!!

I voted for you. Noticed a lot of dogs from Alabama there, but I'm still a Hoosier at heart.

Very cool. My little sis went to nursing school at ball state.

i just love the one with the interesting color scheme, what is it called? well, i will just call it gorgeous for now!

I know, he is very different looking. I would guess he is still a tri. It is like the day they handed out the zorro masks, he didnt feel like waiting in line.
He is all basenji, but I dont think I have seen another with out a mask. he came from a Brat, a girl got him from a breeder, It would be interesting to see if his littermates were similar.
But, Thanks -
He is what is called a capped tri. There are pictures of other capped tris in the African stock project. http://www.basenji.org/african/project.htm
Look for Avongara Nabodio and Avongara Painted Lady

Wow, thanks. It is so neat to see others. I think there was a puppy on BRAT awhile back, but the picture was not up very long.
My mom has a traditional tri colored and I always say Squiggy is too pretty to wear a mask. This is so neat, thanks alot for the link! -
Do you know anything about Squiggy's history? Where he may have come from?
-
I too have a capped tri (or we know for sure her mother is and she is starting to get her cap) Keiki's coloring is so different that people think that she is not a purebred….many of you know how much ca-ca I have gotten about this....Keiki is a BRAT rescue as well....she is now one year old...or she will be in a week!!! I dunno if the attachment stuck and if it didnt, you can see her at www.flickr.com/photos/basenjimomma

I get that too. "what kind of basenji mix is he?" drives me bonkers. Id still love him the same if he was a mix though.
I dont know his history except he came from a breeder in southern Indiana. The girl who turned him to BRAT couldnt remember who it was, and never got him registered.I love your little capped basenji. very cute. I imagine squiggy's baby pic would be similar.
Where did you get yours? -
I love the pictures, looks like plenty of friends to play with…..very nice and very handsome.

There is a capped little girl on the BRAT website. I think her name is Jasmine. She is very cute, but arent they all:p

Keiki sure is cute! Boy, the vaca photos are great. I am jealous! Where is the house on the penisula along the blue water? (Just before the lighthouse pics I think.) I want to go there!!!
