My basenji mix Layla loves to run around in very high plants and shrubs like foxtail. Could it be that it reminds her of something similiar like in Africa?

I think it's just fun.

But be careful of foxtail. While there are various kinds, animals can get in their eyes, noses or even throat and cause pretty ugly consequences.

Looks can be so deceiving- here is an article of a woman who adopted a rescue dog in N.J. Dog looks like a basenji - even her vet thought it might be basenji. She did an Embark DNA test - no basenji. Turned out the dog was a mixture of Mountain Cur, Rat Terrier, Beagle, and Boston Terrier. link text

an old lady want so much to have maca on her arms, i put up her and she grab Maca and kiss her, she was not so happy but she is so smart and i was saying, "muy bien Maca" well done Maca! and she let the old lady grab her and kiss her, i dont do that so much but Maca knows when its time to let people touching her.. sure, i only do for special ladys so she is fine. Im proud of her! sure!

None of mine care for young puppies of any breed, they try and avoid them. Once the pup is 8 or 9 months old, mine seem to like the same pup they have been growling and snapping at for 6 months!

I agree with the yard as a more neutral area. Good luck, he's a cute puppy, hopefully will get neutered then your dogs may like him better.

I have a friend who swears by her Walkydog, takes her basenji for 6-8 mile rides when it is cooler. It evidently unclips easily if your dog needs a pit-stop. I'm afraid any one of my 3 would drag me to my death if attached to me on a bike.
