All pups have been placed as responsible breeders have reservation lists. We are not at this time planning a litter for 2020 or 2021. I would be happy to talk to you about Basenjis. You can search for responsible breeders at www.basenji.org by state, however as far as I know all responsible breeders on the West Coast already have full reservation lists. You would be looking at litters possible in 2021. This is the time to connect with a responsible breeder and get on their reservation lists for 2021. And if you are looking for a dog that is hypoallergenic, Basenjis do shed and have dander so they are not really hypoallergenic. While they can do well with people with allergies, you need to spend time with them and more than one time. Be sure that you check out health testing yourself, regardless of what you might be advised. Tests for DNA testing is public knowledge at www.ofa.org. You need to have either a registration number or name to check this out for yourself to verify. I suggest all people looking for a Basenji, even my own, do this.
Looking for a rescue basenji in Texas
-
We lost our beloved Lexi a month ago, leaving us with a hole in our hearts and our basenji mix boy without a companion. He has had a companion since birth and is lost without a playmate. I have applied to BRAT and Camp Basenji. I have gotten welcome emails from BRAT but nothing from Camp Basenji. There is a BRAT in Texas but he would not be a good fit for us. We are not looking for a senior dog having just lost our 16 year old. We are looking for a cuddler who is house trained and gets along with other dogs as we go to the dog park frequently as well as grand pup sit for our sons when they go on trips.

BRAT has a number of Basenjis who are not quite ready for adoption, make sure that you reply to BRAT's welcome email, let them know what you have just told the Forum. Have you checked Colorado Basenji Rescue http://www.coloradobasenjirescue.org/index.shtml they do have a young female.

You can contact nearby breeders to see if they have any older Basenjis (returns, failed show dogs, never going to be bred) in need of a home. The Basenji Club of America web site has breeder information by State but you should email Denise, the breeder contact, for additional breeder information.

Pam has been dealing with a great many issues, but I am sure she will respond soon.

Thanks! I totally get having issues to deal with. I hope all gets better for her and will patiently await for her reply.

Colorado is too far for me and I want to be able to pick up the Basenji instead of having someone else transport him/her. Thanks for the info though.
