My new pup!

    Hey! This is my first post here and I want to introduce you to my dog Tom!
    I don't think I could have found a better pup for me. He's very energetic and he ate a couch, but we are trying to stop it, he's making progress and I'm sure that when he gets older he will calm down. I housebreaked trained him and thought"sit" and "come" myself (he's still not very good at coming). But, since i never had a dog before, I think we are doing just fine. It's just so good to come home and have that little ball of fur waiting for me!
    He is 8 months old now and he is changing everyone's lives back here. I got him 2 months ago, and found this website around then, but I was too lazy to subscribe :D

    Hi, welcome. Do you have any photos of Tom to share, we all like photos. Lot's of great information here on the forum and helpful people if you have any questions about the breed. My dog Kaiser(10 months) went through his second puppy stage at around 7-8 months and did a little destruction mainly his poor toys but is overall turning out to be a good dog. My best advice would be if you see a bad habit starting stop it as soon as possible other wise it could be a losing battle. Enjoy your pup.

    @elbrant That's how all my 8-some learned to catch. If food dropped on the floor - you lost it ! So they all stood on their hind legs and it was like feeding a nest of fledgling sparrows. A gentle toss of the treat and someone caught it !

With and without apostrophes, sires and dams mis-spelled (which if I wasn't careful would lead to a multitude of doubling up). Luckily there is the AKC website and various national dogweb-registries I can go to. But if you send me a photo or anything, I normally get it into the database the same day and re-upload it all that same evening. And no, the 2019 litter is in, but not the 2020 so let me have the registration number as soon as you can and I will dig out the whole (registered) litter.

    Humane is a double edged sword IMO. Yes, they do help dogs, but there are problems with the agency as well. There are many breeds that would now be extinct except for breeders who had the dedication to keep the breed alive. Basenji's would never be known in the world except for dedication of someone who decided to take them from Africa. The Chinook was saved from extinction in 1981 with 11 breedable dogs! So breeders have their place, and definitely the humane has it's place. I don't discount them, there are just two sides to the story. Of course this is MO only!
