I live in Europe and I have reserved myself a basenji pup from a breeder, known as good and responsible in my country, we have a good contact and I like her very much I'm sure puppy will be beautiful healthy and very basenji! Since I don't have a big understanding about lines, titles and pedigrees, I'd like to get your opinion, how does it looks (pedigree) - is it weak, ok, or promising, is there too much inbreeding, what's the bloodlines ect.
I'm trying to understand all those things, but I have to say - I am already in love with my little basenji girl, she's just 3 weeks old, and waiting is killing me! I'll add some pictures (that breeder sent me) when I'll figure out how to add them on this forum! :p
I really really hope I'm not mistaken about the breeder, since she's slowly becoming my friend thru all the basenji talks on phone and email..

@Alex Always suggest that it is a male/female pair... of course it would depend on each disposition... but rule of thumb is male/female...so I would think that you might be better with one of each sex, that said, your breeder for the dobie can help you with that especially since Chance is older (way older... LOL) now and yes, always suggest separate feeding... I have always used crates to feed them in... But disagree that temperament doesn't matter in the beginning, but it can... so make sure that your pup has a good temperament and from a responsible breeder.

Thank you very much Pat ! It was a bit hair-raising. I wanted to be sure it was an easy transition so phoned the Server. The man I spoke to was adamant. No, I would not have to make any changes, yes Google would update it, yes everything would be easy. . .

Why did I believe him ? First thing were all kinds of 'DANGER !' messages and emails from people who could not get to the site from Google. I managed to get to it in the end, but nothing worked - so I thought carefully and realised I needed to change links in all the scripts which run the program. There are dozens of them. Then I chickened out, didn't dare upload the new scripts so I called my computer guru who came over a couple of hours later, checked my work (and found a load more to do. . . ) and we opened a couple of cans of beer, held our breath and uploaded the scripts.

Phew ! It all worked fine, but now how to get the change publicised - I don't do FaceBook. Luckily lots of helpful people are putting the new address about, and hopefully Google will find it soon.

Are the sire/dam DNA tested for Fanconi and PRA? Did you check for yourself at www.ofa.org as DNA tests for Fanconi/PRA are public posted for the results. If not you should have your girl tested. It is a cheek swab that you do yourself. You can order it at www.ofa.org and the cost is 65.00 for each test (Fanconi & PRA)

I am wondering if my dog is a basenji or a basenji mix? We have had him since he was a puppy and was told he was a pomchi but I don't think he is. What do you all think?
