Stay Cool!

Basenji Talk
  • Seattle was cold and dark all June it seems.

But the sky is clear blue and the temps are soaring into the 90s now.

    Shaun prefers it cooler.

I have been giving him ice cubes to play with but they keep melting…

  • It's been in the 90's here in Ohio the last few days and my bud could care less about ice cubes…I wish he would...water and play at the same time. Mostly he just bothers me to go out to chase the bunnies in the yard and expects a full water dish when he comes in. I'd put a water bowl outside for him but the way my house and his 40' lead are situtated...he just knocks it over every time I've tried (no fence). So, he goes out back, chases the bunnies, and I fill up his water bowl for when he comes in...it works for us.:)

We use ones from Rukka. Not sure if they’re available everywhere but they are they best ones we have tried (others always fell off, especially in deep snow). I think having two Velcro closures on each sock has been key. I also prefer the soft shell ones as our B seems to accept them more and they don’t twist as much as the ones with a hard sole. Here are the ones I am referring to: https://rukkapets.com/paw-wear/thermal-shoes-black

My old man did not deal with Boise winters. I went to the the salvation army and bought him a little kids hoodie. He liked it and was never bothered by the hood occasionally falling over his head. He learned to flip it back.

The only alcohol Ruby tried, was she licked some red wine out of my glass…did not like it at all. In fact, immediately after she licked it she made a really funny face, stood up straight on her hind legs and started boxing in the air (she was acting a bit drunk because it was so crazy). It was hilarious and my comment to my father, was "if she acts that way after one sip, just think what would happen if she drank the whole glass :D". I've since offered her a sip of red wine and she won't come anywhere near it.
