WHAT a charmer!!!!! I hope you and Chester have long and happy lives together. You are going to have SO much fun!
Hello!

Stumbled onto this site today and thought I'd pop in and show off my best gal, Greta Blue! She's basenji/shar pei mix. I'd have never thought Shar Pei, but friends with allergies to SP fur say she definitely has SP!!
Let me know what you all think!

I am assuming that the sire was a Basenji and the mother a Shar pei, is that correct? A very interesting mix!!!

Welcome to the forum. Interesting mix. If you hadn't said the mix I would not have guessed it. Anyway very nice looking dog! The Shar Pei's can all look quite different
This one has a similarity in the body. -
hi Barb - welcome to the forum. Greta Blue is sweet, no matter what she is mixed with. I love the picture of her with the cat. She is obviously quite the lover.

This one has a similarity in the body.Dan, I definitely see the Shar-pei in that picture. Great looking dog - I love the little curled-over Shar-pei ears.

no clue…she's a rescue adopted @ 3 months old.
the very night i brought her home she started coughing. long story short - she had a nasty case of distemper with the vet telling me she had <30% chance of survival. i literally willed her to live, spoon feeding her chicken and rice for 3 months. she coughed for over a year even after she was well, and she was nicknamed "the incredible coughing dog". 5 years later, she's fit as a fiddle!
funny thing happened to her - for the first 2 years, she never barked (typical basenji). a friend with a border collie started staying with me and Rosie would bark at all the dogs/people walking past the house. Lo & behold, Greta B 'learned' to bark! now i can't shut her up!

Thank you both Dan & Fran!
I'd have never known she was Shar Pei either…although when she was a baby, she had tons of wrinkles, but as she grew, she grew into the wrinkles. Now she has them only on the top of her head. But the clincher to the Shar Pei is the allergies several people have commented on who are allergic to their fur :o.
