These little fatties are doing sooooooo well. Im used to ACD babies losing weight in the first couple of days, then gaining, doubling their weight around day 10ish… Not with these guys, no weight loss, all have doubled their weight by day 6 ... Mumma Crystal doesnt even look like she has a lot of milk at all, clearly what she does have is pretty damn good though !!! Its interesting that for this litter I didnt feed Crystal puppy food at all during her pregnancy, as I have done for all my previous litters, and the pups were good weights at birth, and are now gaining so well ;)... Certainly food for thought, (pardon the pun :D)...

Thanks everyone! Dylan is so much prettier in person, these pics dont do her justice at all :D The marking on her side is so strange, i think it looks like an "@" symbol :D Maya really likes them actually, she has been used to cats as she was raised with my old man Simon. She has just come into season and has gone all pathetic and maternal and seems to think these kittens are her babies so she is just all over them washing them (much to their disgust!!) and cuddlng them. Saves me grooming them i suppose lol!!

@Kipawa: Sounds like you will be really busy later this summer/fall. I have seen pictures of the boats that people live on in the Netherlands - it looks like quite an interesting lifestyle. I assume your basenjis are fine with it. Good luck in finding your special cat. :) There are two types of living on a boat :) People that live on a boat that can't sail anymore. (they put it in a harbor and live there) We live on a ship (we can't call it a boat  ) that sails every day. We load our ship with material (like corn or coils of steel) and sail untill we are at the place to unload. We load the same weight that 40/45 trucks can load ;) It's a weird lifestyle, every night we walk the doggies on a different spot and every day they meet new dogs and people.. And we are always at home with them.. that's a great thing!

@MacPack: I recommend rubber-backed area rugs, or you will find them all in a pile against the wall as they skid along….. Anne And watch them closely. After 3 yrs w/Jazzy and 11 mos w/Keoki, they suddenly decided to eat an area rug. Okay, not exactly "eat" it, but they certainly ruined it in a big way. Why? Why? after all that time?  Because they are Basenjis.:p

@Ninabeana26: I swear websites like this just increase the chances of puppy mills & BYBs. That is so true. This is why it is so important that it is not only responsible breeders that have websites directing people on how to find a responsibly bred puppy but also that responsible owners have websites. Every person can help battle puppy mills by helping other people find a responsible breeder. The more websites are out there directing people to websites like http://www.basenji.org/learn http://kineticbasenjis.tripod.com/Information/Buying_a_Basenji.html http://basenji.org/?q=node/30 http://www.basenjiclubofcanada.com/BCOC-BreedersDirectory.html Any links to the National Club's Breeder Directory and educational websites help to increase the chances that buyers will not go to a BYB or puppymill.

She is hear as so basenji like in her play - I've only introduced her to 1 of my males and they are getting along fine. I however have a nasty cold so I'm mostly sleeping and she is having to be in a pen unless I can watch her. She also has the beginnings of a UTI so she is piddling everywhere - which has not been fun so her movement in my house is a bit restricted until we get a handle on it.
