Basenji Puppies for sale- SW Wisconsin

Basenjis For Sale or Wanted
  • Choosing not to comply with Forum rules because you can't answer one question is not a good excuse. You continue to say your dogs are Fanconi tested and yet still have not given their names so that information can be verified on the OFA website.

  • Lisa,

They did give the name of the stud and one bitch.

    Roxandsweet -
barkless and non-shedding are a pretty deceptive way to title an ad. While basenjis don't bark, they are far from mute, and they definitely shed, although maybe not as much as some other breeds.

I am willing to give new breeders a chance, but that ad has a lot of the hallmarks we tend to look for in a puppymill/BYB.

No testing info on the ad. No names and pedigrees of the sire and Dam.
Bitch shown pregnant or heavily lactating, because in many puppymills, the bitches are never not pregnant or lactating.

I am not saying you are a puppymill, I am just pointing out where the assumption came from.

Since you are here, I am hoping that you will take advice given, like Kathy's advice on getting hips and eyes tested on your dogs in addition to fanconi.
I also hope that you are taking responsibility for any dog you have bred for the life of the dog, and making sure that it is in your contract that you must be given back any dog you bred if the buyer cannot keep it for any reason for the dog's entire life.

  • Roxandsweet,

Please edit your initial thread to comply with our forum guidelines and use our For Sale posting format described in For Sale/Waiting List Post Rules: Read First otherwise this thread will be removed.

    Regards

  • Roxandsweet.
If you love your dogs as you post, then this is the place to learn how to care for them, and to care for the puppies they produce.
By not giving the info ask about by Alex, several times, it just doesn't make us
believe your words. At least I feel that way.

  • Here is the information requested]

    ke basenjis
    Hillsboro, WI

Dam: Sweet Pea of the Congo AKC - 21 lbs.
Sire: Black Devil of the Congo AKC - 27 lbs.
    7 puppies
    1 tri (m)
    3 B/W (1 F, 2 M)
    3 R/W (3 F)

    Dam: Roxy - 17 lbs.
Sire: Black Devil of the Congo AKC - 27 lbs.
    6 puppies
    2 Tri (f)
    4 R/W (1 f, 3 m)

All adults have been Fanconi tested. Both dams are clear and Black Devil (Zeke) is a carrier so puppies could be only carriers or clear.
Our experience has been that Basenjis do not bark. That in no way implies they are mute. They have great personality and "talk", depending on the particular dog.
    Prices range from $425 - $725
Puppies will be released starting at 10 weeks
We will ship in the continental U.S. but will also deliver a reasonable distance.
Photos can be seen at Photobucket Search "sweetroxy_2010".
If more information is needed, please contact me at 262-470-4182.

  • Thank you for giving this inforamtion to the forum.

  • Actually you still have not complied with the listing requirements. You have not given current age of the pups. Even better giving their birthdate so no matter when someone views the thread they can figure out their age. You also did not answer if they AKC registerable.

  • It is probably easiest to use the Listing Format given by the Forum owners. Here it is in again.

We are showing current pictures of both females. We have had the trindle for 1 1/2 years but this is the first time we have bred her.

If there are further questions, please contact me. I believe I have listed the information just as asked!

  • I was just curious why each puppy is a different price?

  • male vs. female
    registerable vs. non-registerable
    different colors

Interesting, responsible breeders don't price according to color or sex. And AKC frowns on the practice of charging more for the papers, as do responsible breeders.

@senjisilly said in Basenji Puppy in US: Get Educated BEFORE you BUY I second this motion! Seriously... to quote the animal shelter I got my Aussie/Border Collie from during the holidays back in the day... "A dog is not for Christmas. It's for LIFE!" Let people who've been in this breed for some time, have contacts, know the in's and out's guide you. Picture in your mind a 15-year commitment. Help this breed by supporting responsible breeders who are passionate about the breed. How do you spot a Responsible Breeder? Insist on health testing PRIOR to breeding. Know your breeder's goals for the breed. Meet them! See if they're in @Zande's Pedigree Database. Read the Basenji Club of America Illustrated Standard on @tanza's site. Most of you won't ever show your dog and that's OK! Your breeder should know the Standard inside and out. They should be able to talk to it. Read it and ask them how their line supports the standard. Ask them what their breeding goals are, what they've been working on, where they are going, etc. That's fair. A good Basenji breeder is going ask you a TON of questions, AND THEY SHOULD! We want good solid safe homes for puppies, retired show dogs or dogs that don't want to show. Not every puppy will be a show dog. In fact, most won't be. Litters on average are between 4 and 6. Responsible breeders need pet homes for puppies that aren't going to part of their breeding programs. You can support responsible breeding by providing pet homes. Just make sure your breeder will make time for ALL your questions both before and AFTER the purchase. Mine will! :beaming_face_with_smiling_eyes:

@debradownsouth He was Arrested and then he died. I will refrain from posting Horse related posts. You just did not believe me when I said Horses are taken to Great Adventure. Now regarding the Basenjis relation to Wolves: Mu dog loved the Wolves and when I would walk the Wolf and the Dog in the Park the Dogs there which included Rotties, Saint Bernards, Bull Mastiffs all pulled their owner out of the Park because Dogs instinctively fear Wolves. Thannks!

I would also look on Petharbor and Adopt-A-Pet. It can be difficult to find one under 1 year of age. You might have to go farther in your search or perhaps raise the age to 2 years. Jennifer

Yes i have been very interested for a long time. Iv been in contact with a Breeder from England for a while now and they are expecting a summer litter. While iv been speaking to the breeder i feel comfortable that she will be more than helpful and is willing to all of the above. Like you said the price was the last thing on your mind, this goes for me too. I was just wondering along the lines so i could save to buy my puppy. Thanks for the help :)

Folks, This thread has been closed, pending review and moderation. Please respect our forum community rules and guidelines. If you feel that you need stop posting for a while because of a conflict with other members, please step back and email us directly before posting publicly about the issue. Best way to to handle arguments on the public forum is to just let go and move on. http://www.basenjiforums.com/showthread.php?t=374 COURTESY AND RESPECT The purpose of this board is to provide a place for Basenji owners to make connections, exchange information and assist and encourage one another. It is above all a friendly environment for online discussion. Don't be rude to others, or make an argument personal If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all Know the difference between a difference of opinion and a personal attack Don't try to "win" an argument by repeating yourself over and over Don't tell others what to post Don't bash other members Keep it clean, don't use profanity Why can't I tell this user what an idiot he/she is; every single thing he/she posts is just so wrong? If you can't find a respectful way to express your difference of opinion, then you're better off saying nothing at all. Don't talk down to other posters, lecture them or be rude and dismissive. Disagreement is fine, but attacking another poster personally will get you in trouble and result in a ban from the forum. But he started the fight by attacking me! Can't I defend myself? This is a forum for the discussion of Basenjis, not a dueling society. If you feel attacked, please report it to the admin and then ignore the poster, respond to another thread. Remember, however much you were provoked, if you attack a poster personally then you are just as guilty of breaking the rules. Why can't I tell a poster that he's breaking the rules? This board has a moderator. Telling other people what to do is rude, derails the conversation even further and often ignites flame wars. Please just report the user to the admin and move on.
