It's a LITTLE complicated

Greetings from Virginia!
When I married (remarried) in 2007, I joined a Basenji family. My wife co-owned Curie (Dark Skies Cherry Bomb), with her sister who had bred her. I myself had grown up with German Shepherds, Vizslas, and various mixed breeds, all pets. I had no knowledge of shows.
Curie was then joined by our Bengal cat, Sagan. Though I had never thought of myself as a cat person, I rapidly discovered that side of myself. I adore Sagan and adored Curie.
Curie died late last year, just shy of 6 years. Young! Kidney complications from lyme disease – we're 80% sure. At any rate, after 5 days of agonizing procedures and diagnostics, her kidney function was shot and even heroic measures would have been extremely unlikely to lead to a reasonable quality of life. We were devastated.
Protect your dear dogs from Lyme!!
Anyway, we got home last week with our new baby tri, Zelda (Mata Hauri Dance Klass) out of Klassy. We are incredibly lucky and happy to have such a fine, fine pup. At 8 weeks she is doing fabulously -- spirited, getting along with crate- and house-training, showing signs of being a "climber", and eating and eliminating well and regularly.
We'll be showing her along the way -- another education for me!
We're looking forward to reading the Forums often and finding support and ideas here. We'll share what we can! Thanks!!

Very cute!!! And welcome to the forum! :D:D I'm sorry to hear about Curie.
Just curious, who is Zelda's sire - is it Player?

Yep, Player is the sire. (Verbalobe is my husband.)
We are basically getting ourselves on a schedule. I forgot how EARLY puppies wake up :-)

Seems she's as fearless as most Basenji…I had to flinch a little when the horse brandished his foot. I've known a few horses who are rather impatient where it comes to puppies.

Listeme's sister, a very, very experienced horsewoman as well as Basenji breeder, can be seen in the video keeping her body positioned between her horse and the pup. :)

I'm not sure. I think we were told then that she was a mix of some sort, including some labradoodle. I may be wrong.
She was very gentle.
