@zande Ah, sorry, since you had her mom's name in big letters I thought you wanted her mom's info. Telki is Triforce's Princess Mononoke HP61278102. I just tried to look her up and it didn't work for some reason though.

@zande She goes by Autumn but that is her registered name, I believe. D.O.B. is 6-2-2018. AKC number HP57371401.

Telki and her siblings were born Oct. 8 2020. I know a tri female stayed with the breeder, red female is in Denver (I'm in contact with her owner weekly), red male is in Riverside, and I don't know where the tri male is.

@tanza Yes, we found Chris and love Swagger! Second playdate with him today! We will have to wait to meet Mellie but love all the photos of her we've seen. Thank you for thinking of Chris, she's been so kind to my family already.

We live in Santa Cruz, California. If anyone lives relatively close to us, we'd love to meet for playdates!

Telki's favorite game is rolling and nudging mini tennis balls around under the chairs and dining room table through the obstacle course of furniture legs and horizontal supports. She entertains herself with this for at least 30 minutes at a time. Does anyone else's basenji do this?

I'm trying to keep up with comments directed towards me but I just want to thank everyone for your experiences and recommendations about food and everything else on this thread. I appreciate all of you!

@jkent Thanks for your insight. I like giving my girl scraps from food prep too. I remember seeing photos of your pup on the forum before. She's such a gorgeous dog, lucky you :)

@jengosmonkey I haven't heard of a dog food for teeth before. Thanks for the link! I'll ask my vet about it!

@tanza Thanks, I'll look into Plaque Off. I talked with my vet about brushing and she said if you don't do it EVERY day, it won't make a difference. We've still got nearly all puppy teeth right now anyway. I've got her a toothbrush too.

@aprilk Thank you for the recommendations! I'll add them to my list. I think I'll try several mentioned here and those will be among them. So far no touchy stomach, but I'll keep your experiences in mind!

@eeeefarm Thanks! I never looked it up, I've just heard it mentioned before (and my own anecdote, of course). This thread certainly makes me feel better about continuing to give wet food to my girl. We are really big on giving her fresh food too.

@kittenishkat Thank you! I'll check and see if my local feed store carries that brand too! She does love plain yogurt but isn't so keen on sweet potato. Trying to expose her to many flavors so I'll definitely give it to her again

@elbrant It's funny that you say that--she won't touch her dinner until my family sits down at the table to eat our dinner. Then she starts picking though her dish. We try to mix up the fresh fruits and veggies or treats that she gets daily.

@tanza Yes, she's perfectly healthy I'm not worried that anything is wrong. I haven't had a puppy before and I expected a little more enthusiasm about eating since she's playing and growing so much. I'll check out Fromm's and Natural Balance small bites. She's been getting 1/3 - 1/2 cup dry kibble for each meal, but has never eaten it all in one go so I wasn't too concerned about her getting too much. Often times her breakfast is her snack and ends up being part of her dinner too...

@eeeefarm I can totally understand wanting to avoid using kibble, but why do you recommend moistening it? I thought that eating kibble that was not mushy was good for their teeth (sort of like brushing them). My last dog died at 18.5 with every tooth intact, white, and sharp and I attributed that to his hard kibble (and veg, of course!) diet. Thanks for your thoughts!

@tanza Okay I'll try the 10 minutes thing and see if that works. We added the Stella and Chewy's food just for that reason--to mix it up--and she couldn't have cared less. We've been adding about a tablespoon of wet food morning and evening. She'll suck it off the kibbles and spit them back out. She also gets a spoonful of homemade yogurt or cottage cheese each morning which she loves. She gets little fruit scraps in the morning and veggies from our dinner preparation at night. I like your method of changing the food regularly. I'll try the 10 minute method and report back in a day or two. Thank you!

Hi all! I've got a nearly 16 week old puppy who isn't all that keen on eating her kibble. She came with Simply Nourish Puppy, we gradually switched her to Wellness Puppy, and have tried Stella and Chewy's too. She hasn't really liked any of them. Can anyone recommend a food that their dog can't resist?

@shankara Oh yes, I've heard the stories! :) Our first basenji chewed through the seatbelt of my mom's car on a road trip. He turned into a wonderful and patient dog though. I'm certainly looking into BRAT too.

@elbrant Yes, that's a valid point and I don't mean to offend any breeders by suggesting some dogs are of a lower standard. I've heard that for some dog breeds, white from the tummy that extends too far up the sides/legs/chest is seen as less desirable for show dogs. So that is all that I meant by that comment
