This story has some elements of urban myth in it - see http://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/stuffedtoys.asp
As they point out its not only stuffed toys that are treated with anti fungals/bacterials - fillings of duvets/doonas/quilts/comforters/ pillows/cushions/pet beds are all potentially treated with the same chemicals.
Also there is no details that if you wash toy/quilt whether the chemical is removed/reduced.
I would also be very surprised if there were any standards imposed on what is deemed appropriate or safe for pet toys - there seems to be little or no regulation as to what can be fed/added to pet food around the world.
That is not to say that there are very good manufacturers of pet food/toys who take the research upon themselves. However if I went along to my local craft store and bought a commercially available filling, how would I know whether it had been treated or not?
I think in AKC they have to be 7 yrs old. In CKC they have a pee wee class where it's even younger, 4 yrs. And in UKC they can be 2! lol And I think in the youngest ones they can have an "assistant" handler. :) I know I've seen Laurie Soutar going around the ring with her granddaughter in UKC. She has Lakilanni Greyhounds and are regulars at the lure trials.
PS, that's for juniors. I think for the breed ring there is no age stipulation as long as they are in control of the dog. Kathy?
That guy is my hero! We met a man a few years ago with a 3-legged lab, he had dived in and fought a gator to save his dog. The dog lost a front leg (Gators have really nasty mouths) but was happy and healthy…and alive!

@Quercus:
:rolleyes: Ugh…maybe instead of marrying a dog, he should enlist people to stone and club him while he is 'mating'. Unfortunately I can't get the image of the original dogs being murdered while breeding.....
Personally, I don't think he should be allowed to breed, but your suggestion is the next best thing.;)
