Show Off Your Dog
  • That is howwe call the 5th of December, it's the birthday party of "sinterklaas"
Little kids believe in Sinterklaas, if they are good during the year they got presents, if they been bad: they have to go to Spain with Sinterklaas (Sinterklaas lives in Spain they say with the "zwarte pieten" )
Well, we celebrate that every year, the adults make presents for eachother and the kids get presents from "sinterklaas"

The doggies were goodthis year, there were a lot of presents for them also:

My mom made a fake Sinterklaas

  • My family called that St. Nicholas Day - sometimes little presents (1 or 2) were given to children. It so nice that your whole family enjoys your dogs so much too.

He was awake at the beginning of the evening :D
But he had to go to bed when I started to make pics..
    Escpecially for you:

Ryan with a stuffed "zwarte Piet" on his head!

  • lovely pics Kim. Is Sinterkaas like who we call Father Christmas and is Zwarte Piet a Black character. One December when we were in Amsterdam we saw him everywhere and i couldn't seem to find out who he was and his story.
Do the Dogs not go mad to get the Cats rabbit fur mouse, we couldnt let our cats have them when we had Benji as he nearly swallowed it whole once :D

  • The mouse thing is funny. My mother gave Abbey a big gray mouse for Christmas one year and it looked so real she was afraid I'd have a heart attack finding it in the living room floor some morning. So she sewed a red Santa hat on it!

  • @Buana:

Was he so bad this year?? I don't believe that!

    I think so… ;)

Mommy got a nice present for the both of us though.. A Hunter leash, which I can use for agility.. So now it's easy to get him on and off leash :)

  • These are great! Your Bs are so good. Buddy would be trying to grab the stuff on the table.

I am not in your area, but ... you should know that dog training is about teaching you how to interact with your dog, as opposed to teaching your dog how to do things. Most area Kennel Clubs offer training where you are your dogs partner in the class. The things you will learn will last your lifetime. I applaud the non-punitive approach. A lot of people fly off the handle when their dog chews on the wrong thing, or doesn't quite have potty training down. One of the best things you can do is give them love when they do it right and don't react when they don't. Recognize that he's just a pup. You can trade an acceptable chew toy for your shoes, and you can avoid the problem by closing the closet door so your pup can't get to your shoes. Accidents will happen and learning to potty doesn't happen overnight. Just provide a lot of verbal love when the pup gets it right and don't react when he doesn't. Love and praise are the best tools in your training bag. Congrats on your pup. Can't wait to hear about all of your adventures!
