    Forwarded with permission.

    –---Original Message-----

BRAT has been dealing with an unprecedented number of dogs being re-homed
this year. We have helped more than five hundred purebred basenjis so far
this year (this number includes basenjis either current, pending, adopted or
withdrawn). We also have provided limited assistance to scores of basenji
    mixes.

The problem has become so acute that we have had to place a moratorium on
some of our rescue activities as we no longer have foster homes and funding
    support for additional dogs.

In the past, we have monitored various websites (like Craigslist) for "give
away" Basenjis and watched for postings of Basenjis in kill shelters -
contacting them with an offer of help. These dogs then either went into
foster care or into commercial kennels until we could provide foster care.
We are no longer able to solicit additional dogs in this manner.

If you have been considering fostering we would love to hear from you. We
have experienced coordinators and fosters who can work with you. Our foster
needs have never been greater than they are at present. If you cannot
foster, but would like to assist with funding so as to assure that kennel
funding is available; your tax deductible gifts couldn't come at a better
time. We hope to be able to resume this rescue outreach as soon as
    possible.

You can learn more about fostering a BRAT dog by reading our Foster Handbook

Hi all. All the puppies have gone to their new homes. The last one to leave was the red male, King. He went Thursday to leve in CA. All are now making new slaves. Everyone has good things to say about them. As we have said the litter was smart and loving. We will miss them, but they all needed to be in their own homes. The day King left, and we got all of our livingroom back my guys found their spots and slept the rest of the afternoon away. They didn't miss the pups at all! They even helped pack they bags. This is just my opinion…I like to fly dogs to their new homes if possible. Car run are ok...but I always worry about accidents, or a dog getting loose. With the plane, its a lot quicker.
