Does your basenji like tea bags?

Basenji Talk
  • Stormie has a really bizarre "thing" - it's almost a compulsion, actually. When I brew up a cup of tea, he loves to roll all over the tea bag. I mean he smooshes his head into it, and just rolls away! The only thing he'd rather roll on is deer poo (but that a whole other thread! lol!). Mint seems to be his favorite, but any herbal tea will do in a pinch. Has anyone else noticed this from their b, or is Stormie as bizarre as I think he is? ;)

  • I've never given Jazz a tea bag, but it wouldn't surprise me if she did roll on it.

Her favorite things to roll on are my husband's leather work boots – and his socked feet after the boots are removed -- at the end of a long work day.
    ew.

  • LOL Jazzy'sMom! So I guess I should be thankful that Stormie hasn't displayed a "foot fetish"?! ;)

Mine usually like to roll on my bath towel after I shower:eek: ….. that's right after they roll on my smelly socks and work shoes:eek: .

Last I heard, the Breed Club secretaries had more people waiting or wanting pups than were available . You could get on a list for a Basenji next winter but I very much doubt you will find one still unsold. Go to the website of the BCGB, or the Northern Basenji Society as you are in the North and you will find email addresses of the secretaries. They will put you in touch with breeders who may be planning a litter for puppies to become ready to leave the nest in about a year's time. Its a long wait I know, but you have most probably missed the boat for now. You are welcome to post me privately. Good luck!

Shaye loves the sun - will lie out in the heat for as long as she can get it. Gemma, being a basenji/sheltie mix and furrier, lies on the cool tiles on the porch, and when the sun hits her, she heads for the A/C. At the beach, Shaye lies in the hot sand in the sun until I get her into the shade, and because she is also a heat seeking thing, wants to be totally under covers to sleep at night. Stands to reason the tris and b/w's would absorb more heat and not prefer it as much as the r/w's do.

lol usually when you breed a bigger dog to a smaller dog the Male is the tiny one. Its just dangerous to do it the other way around. As far as DNA breed testing I would go for it if I could. But i am just interested in those kinds of tests. We offer them at our clinic but i haven't ever seen results for them.

Kiro Gurl, That's a great pic. I have a bay window on which my 2 are constantly watching the goings on in the neighborhood. Someone in the house will say, "where's the dogs?" and the inevitable reply is "they're on Neighborhood Watch duty." Needless to say we are alerted to every unwanted intruder…..marauding cats, wilily squirrels, and those despicably lawless off leash dogs (with the occasional 'bad to the bone' large wild bird thrown in for good measure;) ) sigh, I feel sooooo safe. I thank Darwin every day that they don't have opposable thumbs 'cuz they'd be unlocking and opening the door for anyone they deemed as a suitable playmate, tummy scratcher, or cuddler:D ! Now that you have a 'window watcher' too, I suggest you invest in windex. There's nothing better to get those dog snot streaks off the windows!! (BTW...welcome to the forums toddsgirl)
