Quick question–diarrhea

    Akeyla has had diarrhea for a day now and I have read all the threads I can about diarrhea but I still have a question. I withheld food for 12 hours and then feed her chicken and rice last night. She doesn't seem to care much for the rice just the chicken. So…my quesion is can I replace the rice with plain oatmeal?
    Also I didnt change anything about her diet to cause this frequent diarrhea however she is not going quite as much as yesterday. So any other advice anyone can give me will help.

    You could try a little yogurt. Cook up some yams in place of the rice.

    Not Robin, however if over all he is a good, well put together, good temperment dog, with light pigment, I would used the dog provided that you have a bitch that compliments him. Of course would be great to see stacked pictures of him.

    I totally agreee with Pat - the vet should know what's going on. Also the fact that the diarrhoea is black is a cause for concern, in my opinion.

    @agilebasenji: I have a friend who has a nonbasenji dog that was just diagnosed with Fanconi. They (owner and vet) started the dog on the Gonto's protocal. (yea!) I know there is a Fanconi list, but did not know if it was open to just Fanconi affected basenjis or if other breeds were welcome. Also, is it a yahoo group? thanks It is a yahoo group and it is open to anyone with a Fanconi affected dog, or so I have been told.

    Poor Maverick, hope he's feeling better soon. Re Ziggy, maybe see how he is Monday, could he have perhaps jumped off a piece of furniture and pulled a muscle. Hope he's better soon also.
