First Time…

Basenji Training
  • for the very first time, Panda joined the Lure Coursing Training of the Danish Sighthoundclub yesterday. She did so well and knew right away what to do. I have tons of pictures in our gallery (but beware, they are really more than 500 pics of the whole dogs running there). But a outtake comes here for you….

The Galleries can be found here: http://myndeklubbengallerie.seelenfreund.dk/#54.0

    and here: http://myndeklubbengallerie.seelenfreund.dk/#55.0

The Galleries are splittet up in two sections: one before and after lunch. The course has been new after the lunch break…

    Regards,

    Esther

  • See her flying!!! Very great picture!!!!
Do you have plans to course more?

  • Yes, at least we will join the Myndeklubben as a Member to participate in the Trainings for half of the price. And of course we will try to get the Coursing Licens for Panda and Jesty… As I found out I will have to travel again to participate in official Coursing competitions but Sweden is not too far from here and maybe I can convince the people from the Myndeklubben (Sighthoundclub) to have us participate in official Competitions as well....once we have the licens. Here in DK we do not have a Basenji Club, therefore there is no Competitions for B's available....

    Regards,
    Esther

  • Good for Panda. She seems to enjoy it thouroughly..

  • I love to see the b's running and smiling.
This is a great photo…thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the link, Ivoss! And thanks for the wire suggestions, as well guys. Chris is actually a plumber, so we have a surplus of PVC lying around! I'm sure that's going to be Chris' next favorite project; once it gets going I'll be sure to let you all know how it goes. :) Any ideas on what the maximum space between pipes would be? We don't want him wriggling and squeezing his way through. This might really help for while I'm away!

Thanks all for his well wishes, he might need them. So far he is eager, if treats are available, to learn new things, so I am very hopeful.

some do, some don't. I was thinking about a better thing but a thin collar, because there still is a risk that the dog gets hurt for some stupid reason. I have bought some agility lead thing, as a retriever lead. But this does not work that well, if the dog is tackling the prey, so a slip lead would be a good alternative…. I think I can have someone make one or two for me, so maybe we have a new "top seller" soon. Specially Denmark is not very used to Coursing events. We do not have regular track racing under FCI regulations as here in DK you can bet on sighthound races. Coursing is quite new here and on August 8th the first national Championship is held. Next Year we hope to participate with the B's in a own coursing section, hopefully... Regards, Esther

@seko: The afghan won over Uku (b/w) and over Valhi (r/w) she got a fright at the begining at the hairy giant dog behind her, stopped for a bit then ran again really well untill the afghan decided to play with her and she couldn't finish properly; the afghan didn't even get disqualified for annoying my dog and got better note  That doesn't sound very fair:mad:

I've run into similar situations with the kids in the neighborhood. When they saw me walking my previous beastie, they would come running. I always told the kids to stop and let my dog smell their hand so he could tell if they were good or bad ("oh I'm a good girl" :)) and the kids surprisingly obeyed. Now when they see me with EL D they remember and do the right thing. And sometimes I hear them telling their sibling or friend "let EL D smell you first".
