Newbie Checking In

Hi,
I am newbie just checking in to say hello. I live in Atlanta, GA and am interested in adding a Basenji to our family so I am doing all of the research on the breed I can. This forum looks to be a great resource on the breed and I look forward to learning more from all the members.
Cheers,

Welcome!
Here is a great link… and check out screening breeders which will help you find a responsible breeder. http://www.basenji.org/learn/Index.htm -
Welcome to the forum, you will find it so useful if you are considering a Basenji. I read lots about them in books but they didn't prepare me for the reality.
When i got mine i was a little shell shocked, lol, but fell in love with him and the breed.
We are hoping to add another one to our family soon. -
Welcome! Adopting a rescue from BRAT (Basenji Rescue and Transport) is a good option. I just adopted a young tri a month ago.

Got our first one back in March 2009. Jaycee is lots of fun and we love her lots but every day is a new day with something new. The one thing I will say I would go to training class not just for them put you to. Have fun looking and let us know. Good luck.

Welcome! I live in Atlanta also and one my best friends lives here too. She's a forum member too but without internet access right now.
We both have 2 basenjis.I don't know if you have spent any time around basenjis, but if you're interested Carrie and I and all four of our basenjis will be at a lure coursing practice on Sunday morning in Alpharetta. You're welcome to come meet our dogs and watch them run. I know that when I was looking for a basenji the most informative experience I had was just to be around them. There will also be Salukis there and possibly a Ridgeback.
Carrie, Liz and I went lure coursing in KY last weekend and this is a picture of our basenjis:
Riley and the Brindle Babes, left to right:
Lola, 1.5 yrs
Callie, 1.5 yrs
Riley 1.5 yrs
Zip 5.5 yrsThe girls on the left are Carrie's and the tri boy and older girl are mine.
