Little Baby update

Off Topic
  • So, 4,5months on the way now and I still feeling good!!! :D

No sickness, a little bit of passionate hormones
Last couple of weeks it has been difficult for me to take my time..
I'm always buzy and I still don't agree with my body to take some rest now and then… (I just can't... and I just not want to let Kas do all the work.. hmzz)

With the baby is everyting great! It's a buzy little "thing" (I have to keep my mouth shut about if it's a he or a she)
It kicks me almost the whole day with breaks of a few hours...
So nice to feel it's "moving" and so "a live"

Last week we had a ultrasound from the little one and that's the (in holland) famous 20weeks ultrasound.
They check as much as possible, from health to measurements.

Everyting went very well, the measurements all fine and there was a nice little thing.. :
The days before I thought I feld "it" but I never knew for sure.
When the ultrasound machine was on my belly above the little one, he KICKED so hard against the machine (almost if he wanted to say, heee get lost!!!) And I felt it BUT we all saw it on the screen!!!
(a nice really hard kick!) hahaha

    Tooooo great!!!!

My belly grows hard, it's a real eyecatcher now :D

We collected (too) much clothes, toys and little nice things for the baby and almost every other nessesary thing we already bought!

    Here the ultrasound pics:

Inside the red circle, are the little feets

At the arrow, the little fingers :D

I love this one, at the arrow, is the nose.
It's a pic of the little head from the right side

The head and the belly of the baby, he lies on his back with his head pointed to the ultrasound machine. you can see a ear!

  • Hmm, did you make a slip? Last caption you said "He"???? congrats and glad all is going well…

  • @tanza:

    Uhm… O NO!!!!

Well, we call "it" often he, that's an agreement with my parents, we all call it "he" so we can't tell too much.....

    But.. uhm..... I think that's why I said it...:D

  • Aww….I have a funny related ultrasound story. I got pregnant right around the same time as our Bella. At four weeks into her pregnancy we took her for an ultrasound, and I took then 4 year old Ethan with me, so he could see the puppies. Of course, I didn't know *I was pregnant at this time. So after our first ultrasound for my pregnancy at 12 weeks, we found out it was TWINS (eek!)...so we took the ultrasound pics back to my parents house where Ethan was staying, and showed them to him....he said "are these Bella's puppies??" and when we told him that there was going to be more than one little sib for him....he thought it was pretty cool...thank goodness someone did at that point ;)

  • Wow, it all looks and sounds very special! And a "he" huh? ;)

This is why I hate posting. I wasn't mad at you either, just didn't think you understood the process. We've all had bad experiences which is why we need to learn from others. There are quicker methods (think wringing their neck-literally) but that's not something I could do. Chopping off the head I have no problem with when the bird is older, but little chicks and ducklings get to me. I know better when going to the vet now, but, at that time, I thought the vet knew what she was doing-obviously not.(with the dog that she blew four veins) This dog was 17 1/2 years old and didn't deserve that at the end of life. He may have been struggling, but you would think after she blew the first vein she would have sedated him then rather that keep trying. Yes, I was with the dog and was not happy with her explanation. There was no reason for it. There are still a lot of people (they just don't admit to it, because they don't know a better method? or just couldn't be bothered? Who knows?) who still use the freezer method. Am I cruel, I can be when I have to be, but I just prefer a simpler method. And I am well aware of the rocks in the sack method. My father was from the old country (hungary) and could be quite cruel. They were never pets or living things-simply livestock-but he wasn't a nice person anyway. As for the vet not putting an animal to sleep? Lived it. I had one dog who was off the wall. Something was simply crossed upstairs neurologically. He started having seizures at about 18 months, but came out of them viciously and could never settle down. The vet insisted I sign him over to him and if he deemed it necessary, he would put him to sleep since he was so young. Yes, there was a euthanasia contract to that effect. The vet kept him for a few days, phoned me up and asked me how I lived with him so long. He could not believe how bad he was. He did put him to sleep after that. But these are a couple of reasons why I am so leary of vets. I've had a few bad experiences with them.

Cute! One point of worthless trivia is that I have personally seen every Panda that has ever been in the U.S.. Don't ask me why, it has just somehow worked out that way.

@dmcarty: I typically only breed when I have some good home lined up as well. But when I started to investigate the breed - there were 19 Podengo Grande Smooth registered in the world. So I started the project to see what we in the US could do to increase the numbers and to motivate those breeders in Portugal to register their dogs. We are starting to see some success and never in my wildest dreams did I think I would have 11 puppies. I do have some homes and some will go to different parts of the US for breeders of other size Podengo to show off, I have a few that are staying by me and a friend has offered to take in a couple to continue socializing when I have to go back to school in the fall. Once they get their shots and I can get them out and about - I think I will see some interest. My good friend Wendy (Harehill Hounds) has been very helpful in building some interest in the Beezer community as well. It really sounds that you know what you are doing, so everything will turn out fine , I am sure about that! meanwhile you can show us loads of pictures of the bunch :D

@Ninabeana26: Also good to hear such a positive update about your furkids! How ever did you get to the point where you could leave dash uncrated during the day while you are gone?!? I want to get Dallas like that buy I worry that he will destory everything he can get to in time… Well, we didn't have much of a choice. He would freak out so bad in a regular crate he would make his feet bleed and pee everywhere and the expen he learned to lift it up and tip it so he could sneak underneath. So we decided it was a good time to try it and he has been happy ever since.
