@khanis: Hi Pedro, Check out this page that I made, it may clear things up for you: http://khanisbasenjis.com/fanconi.html I am not sure why you said IND between carrier and affected, as the IND is between a clear and a carrier. It just means that some of the genes are kind of weird and they aren't showing to be clear. It has to do with the DNA, not the test, and since this is a linkage test that is the best we can do for now. Kathy, At the 2007 Nationals Dr Johnson did say that while there have not been any dogs that tested IND between Carrier and Affected, he did say because this is not the direct test yet, it could happen, just has not. Lisa was correct in posting about that, I had totally forgotten him saying that when asked.

@tsjoe007: Oops, Janneke, I hope you don't get a profile warning for answering my question in Dutch … :( Even if our English is not very good, especially with scientific explanations, let's give it a try anyway next time  Greetz Hey..hey.. my English is PER-FECT…. Hahaha.. ;) My German and French are 'not very good' :D :D (Four languages is just too much.. :p) I totally agree with Alex we should communicate in English here, also in the personal messages we send. From now on...... All my messages are in English... I promise.. :)

@wizard: I've looked at that website but still don't understand the reason behind doing this test. It doesn't check for genetic defects just parentage. It seems it undeniably verifies parentage, but isn't that what the AKC registration does? There must be something I'm missing. It is to prove parentage… as you could put any name of any dog on a set of papers and sent them it.... which in cases of Puppy Millers and some BYB's that is was was being done..... so the parents were NOT the parents of a given puppy. If you read the minutes each month on the AKC site (Secretary's page) you can see how many litter registrations were reversed "due" to DNA parentage.
