The Poop Demon!

Basenji Talk
  • @Andrew:

Hahaha. We could probably create a whole new thread of dog related "funnies" that we humans make up to describe dog specific situations. Booger sometimes clicks his teeth together when smelling another dog or another dog's pee, and we say he's "speaking African."

Or looking for that bitch in season, neutered/spayed or not…. that is what they do...gggg

  • @tanza:

We call them "Cling ons"….. gggg

We call it the same!! The difference is that JR and I are from a slightly older generation and we say the "cling-on" poops are really from the 1980's Star Trek series…...Klingons, from the planet of Uranus:D

Andrew's female....try what I do. Capture the crazy Basenji in between your legs. Have paper towel ready for extraction . Pull slowly but steadily and the poop/hair/kleenex/ should come out.

Sorry you have the hair poop, but something in my neandertal brain says thank goodness I'm not the only one.

  • And I am from a "much" older generation.. way before 1980 Star Trek.. ggg

Hi @Vesna, it’s interesting you say that about the spay. Our tri-color actually just got spayed this week and her coat shed before that. I noticed small amount of black hair growing in where she shed, hopefully it grows back. What phase is your tri-color at? Did this just happen?

We use ones from Rukka. Not sure if they’re available everywhere but they are they best ones we have tried (others always fell off, especially in deep snow). I think having two Velcro closures on each sock has been key. I also prefer the soft shell ones as our B seems to accept them more and they don’t twist as much as the ones with a hard sole. Here are the ones I am referring to: https://rukkapets.com/paw-wear/thermal-shoes-black

@tanza rehab is going well - I can walk without sticks around the house and garden - but leg gets very swollen. I no longer get emails reminding me of things happening on the Forum - strange - all the settings seem to to OK. Wish the emails could be turned back on. Yes, I have known several instances - some of my own puppies that I have sold and many other people I have come across over the years (almost 40 of them LOL) tell the same story.

My undergraduate degree was in geophysics with a minor in applied math. I name all my Basenjis after Indian mathematicians. My current Basenjis are Madhava of Sangamagrama (Madhava for short) and Bramagupta (Bramagupta for short). They do respond to their "short" names.

@DiegosMom: well it was runny weeks ago, thats when we went to the vet, and now its starting up again. same exact bag of food to answer your question.. the stool sample is at the vets right now.. i have to call in 15 minutes to get the results.. thanks for everyones help! What size bag do you ususally buy? Reason that I ask is sometimes one bag of food could be "off"… the food that is naturally preserved can either be a bit bad to begin with or go off after opened. I have had this happen over the years off and on with all different kinds of food. Usually when this happens I get a new bag and see it the problem resolves itself and if it does it would be just about immediate. Could be too that your boy has food allergies... or if Giarida (spelling) regardless of the stool sample can still be present. You could try taking him off dog food totally and feeding boiled ground turkey and brown rice. Boil the turkey in water and drain and mix with rice (you can add garlic powder for some flavor) and see if this makes a difference
