Dog tag question..

    meekas BRAT dog tag and rabies tag discolor her white fur on her neck(esp. notice when wet). Its not like the color of the tag is doing it, but the metal of the tag.. if that makes sense.. anyone have any suggestions on what i can do?? anyone else have this problem??

    Note that in my pups/Basenjis I have never seen this, so a picture of what you are referring to would be helpful

    If the dogs are having similar symptoms as in the previous years, they need to be treated ASAP! It is my understanding that many are developing the acquired Fanconi Syndrome and need to be put on the protocol. Many vets though do not have the equipment to do the venous blood gas test and get an accurate diagnosis. Emergency vets should have the equipment. Do not buy any dog treats that come from China and if the package does not state where it is from then do not buy it! Jennifer

    In my experience, the back leg quivering is normal for older/elderly dogs. I have found that it will get worse as the dog get older. If more neurological symptoms appear or if they are affecting his gait/movement, I suggest taking him to a neurologist for a thorough exam. Jennifer

    @saralars: This is off the subject of crate escape… I was told growing up that turkey and chicken bones were very dangerous for dogs. Are Basenjis different in this way too? Or am I missing something... Raw, uncooked bones are fine for any dog, not just Basenjis… it is "cooked" bones that are the problems

    Hm never thought of that! Thanks for the suggestion! :) I actually found a site that does engraved logos on their tags & so I could get a football engraved on the one side with his info on it. We'll see though!
