Play room

Basenji Talk
  • Has your beastie created a playroom like this?

  • Sorry I can't seem to get any photos inserted today. I'll try again later.

  • It's in the gallery! He looks happy…my Bs playroom is any room where she drags the paper products from the garbage can!

  • My whole house looks like that. Every time I clean one mess up he starts another.

  • Oh yes Mia is like that, the room changes from day to day. She drags all her toys and bones , and I mean alot of bones, to whatever room she wants to hang out in that day. and then at night she usually drags them to the bedroom, so needless to say you have to be careful where you step if you need to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night lol

Watch those bones when you get your puppy. Sweet little Nexa is like a demon when Leo trys to peacefully chew on a bone. She thinks all the bones in the house belong to her. They only get them in their crates now. She could care less if people take the bone away, but certainly Leo can't have one either:D

Dash is that way too. Well actually, so is our beagle. They act like they never will get another bone. They seem to work it out fine.

  • So cute! I'm sure he's thinking "what are you doing in my playroom mom?" :p

Oh fabulous! I can't wait to see how that will transpire lol…I think having 2 B's will be quite the adventure, and like the picture above we'll have lots of playrooms

Love this picture! It's the same picture I could take of my own house…LOL! I have a bucket that the toys go in. I only wish-wish-wish that I could teach my furkids to put their toys away when they're done! Ha ha! Between dog toys and kid toys - It's insane! My son has finally learned to keep his stuff in "his" game room and shut door, but I am daily - pushing dog toys aside with my feet when walking thru the house! Ya gotta love 'em! :D

@nancyss said in Play time: once any toy was void of stuffing, I could re-stuff them ...wait... Cassie leaves enough for you to mend her toys? doodle practically eviscerates them!!! [image: 1612655615022-toypic.jpg]

My girl does most of the above listed things except that she does neck grab other dogs, but when she once caught and killed a squirrel, she grabbed and shook it, killing it immediately. Thereafter she was not at all interested in the prey and walked off. Another dog, a labradoodle, went over to grab the squirrel and started playing all over the field with it till its owner got it away from him. Shaye had no interest at all in this exchange because she did what she set out to do - catch and kill.

It's been a little over 3 months since Mr Baroo came to live with us and Karin and I are grinning most of the time because of the wild play times with Bitty. She had been developing a severe case of couch potato untul he came. Now every time they go out the back door it is at a dead run and Mr. B leads Bitty on multiple circles of their 1/4 acre yard. They are so awesomly beautiful when they run likle that.

When my guys were pups I would get on the floor on all fours and pretend to be a dog. Waggle my butt, take my hand(paw) and tap the dog on the head, scoot around on the floor etc.. My guys loved it. They must have though I was crazy, but the ran around and over and under me. I would sometime incorporate a toy and we would "share". Do watch out if your guy is a nipper and discourage that. If my boy would nip or get mouthy I used "ouch" command loudly and stop play.

Another favorite but to be used sparingly… laser pens. All my dogs love them and the cat (if the dogs would let him) would chase it for hours. But the papillion goes a bit neurotic while playing and that just gets our B- rilled up (it stops looking so much like play and more like dominance behaviors) so it's rarely (if ever) brought out.
