::Urine tested for Fanconi: No
DNA test for Fanconi: No::
...DNA tested for Fanconi syndrome (dogs under 10)
....Our dogs get recommended dental work.
This dog has no Fanconi testing. I thought BRAT stopped that crap? No test over 10 (this one isn't 10 yet btw :Birth date: 11/01/2009)? We have a lot in florida from BRAT who are under 10 with Fanconi and over 10. BRAT REFUSED to test even the young adults 9 years ago (Yes, I have proof) and the dogs and their owners suffered for it. Now they are back to not testing again?
I have seen many people who got "urine tested" dogs from BRAT who assumed it meant CLEAR and only found when the dog developed symptoms that they were not really informed the urine test just says TODAY not spilling, not a darned thing to do if they are affected. Lack of making sure adopters know isn't much better than out and out lying... the result is the same.
The last is a joke. Yeah I have proof and proof they knew.
To the original poster, RUN from any dog or rescue or breeder who doesn't offer proof through DNA testing that the dog is either clear or a carrier (carriers don't develop Fanconi) ((for now, don't even accept "a clear sire or dam').
Check with responsible breeders who may have returned younger pups or who have adults done with breeding/showing who need their own forever family.
If they don't have anything now, get on waiting lists.
I also suggest you contact Camp Basenji (Pam Hamilton) to see what rescues she has that are available.
