Basenji wanted

Basenjis For Sale or Wanted
  • Anyone know where I can find a female basenji. I’ve already checked BRAT no help I sent in a adoption form. They’ve sent me 5 emails with nothing regarding a dog to adopt so I’m getting fed up. I already have a male basenji that we want to find a friend for him.

  • You can try going to the Basenji Club of America site (www.basenji.org) and you can search for breeders by state. Many times breeders will place a Show Basenji that they are not going to use in their breeding programs.

  • Where are you located? I have several breeders to recommend in the midwest! In the meantime, checking the BCOA list as Tanza suggested is a good place to start. Be warned though, puppies are being born this time of the year and many breeders have waiting lists!

@hyacinthe Have you found a Besenji? I have a 5-month old male Besenji that I need to re-home.

Schouiffy, there is indeed a Basenji Rescue in the UK - at times there are sevral dogs there but at present there don't appear to be any but you never know! We are very fortunate not to have as many (even proportionately) to the USA. What a pity it would be so expensive and complicated to take some of the USA Basenjis. There is often a waiting list for rescue Basenjis here so it's often possible to rehome dogs direct from the original home.. Debra - it is unusual for a club officer to have this position but unfortunately the other coordinators resigned and nobody could take on the job. I don't think that there are the dedicated people here that you have in the USA and Canada. I do admire the hard work that is put in to rehome Basenjis there.
