They are absolutely adorable to live with! People warned us when we got our first pup (we have mature two sisters now) but we fell in love with the breed and have no regrets. You have to be patient, though, with lots of humour, because they WILL test you.
New Pup and Questions about Louisiana
-
Howdy everyone, I've just chosen to foster a 9 month old basenji. I've already got a 6 year old Brindle. This is my first time posting on this forum, I don't know how I didn't know about this beforehand. I do need your help, however. The previous owner of this pup surrendered 3 siblings, all appear to be full blooded. I do not believe him to be speaking the truth about the breeder, as he said he bought them from Louisiana. How you could buy 3 Basenji puppies and not know what you're getting into is beyond me... Does anyone know of any sellers in Louisiana? Or, more tragically, someone missing 3 Basenjis?

Is the dog chipped? Or tattooed? Who has the other 2?
I personally have no idea about breeders in Louisiana, but none are listed at the Basenji Club of America breeder referral:

If this is the case, then I would guess it is from a Back Yard Breeder....
