Meet Amelia (and her mommy) !

  • Hello Basenji Owners!

I recently rescued my puppy, Amelia, from the Humane Society last month. She is now 5 months old. I chose her because of her one blue and one brown eye! She was so playful, energetic and quite the cuddler!!

After much research, I think I have concluded that Amelia is a Basenji mix. She has the ears, the forehead wrinkles and the coloring, but she is missing that distinct curly tail! I adopted her having no idea what she was and having never heard of the Basenji breed. This is all new to me!

If anybody has any advice or insight, please share! Does she look like a Basenji to you? What is the temperament of your Basenji?

    Thank you!

    Casey (Amelia's Mom)

Simba was supposedly in a litter of 4. I have a picture of the litter registration form. I know that another of the puppies is supposed to be in Northern Alabama. But that's as much as I know. I will look into getting the kit next week. I will post results once I know.

@Ricky_F: we have no idea what he is. The rescue told us he is some sort of basenji mix. But they have no idea about the parents either. He was found as a stray when he was maybe 8 weeks old. At the end it doesn't matter what his genetics is, we love his personality! He is very cute and you are right, in the end the fact that he is a great family addition is the most important thing…. welcome

She has proven to be totaly different than Tabora and Dakara who were very obedient and reserved unless chalanged. I will post stories about them all in the future.
