Serious request for those who pray

Off Topic

  • :( I hope this post is not inappropriate for this group, but I am trying to get as many prayers as possible for this family.

Joe Herring, a young man in our parish, attempted suicide by gunshot last week. His physical recovery will be long and painful. His mental and emotional recovery will be even more challenging.

Please keep Joe Herring and his family – his parents and 12 siblings -- in your prayers.
Feel free to ask others to pray for this young man also.

You can "meet" Joe and check his story/progress at:

  • So sorry…Lots of prayers your way.

  • How sad for your parish, Joe's friends and family. There are no "right" words to make this situation any easier for anyone. I hope Joe realizes that he is surrounded by love and support and will be able to become stronger knowing that he is not alone.

My thoughts are with your community in this tough time.

    Jenn

@JENGOSMonkey I WAS THERE FOR '89! I was a kid, but I remember the water coming out of the swimming pool in huge waves and everything falling from the shelves! I was actually born in San Jose, but moved around a lot later LOL I hear the wildfires are more of a concern for you guys now? That's scarier than quakes for me...

I cannot imagine committing to buy a puppy without seeing the animal and if possible the sire and dam. OTOH, a rescue (or adoption of an older dog) is a different thing. My last two Basenjis came to me sight unseen, and turned out to be wonderful dogs, but the breeders I got them from wanted to place their dogs in an experienced Basenji home, and I only paid the cost of getting the dogs to me. One came by air, one was personally transported to me by his breeder. If she hadn't been happy with what she found I expect she would have taken him back with her when she left. I also had to commit to return him if ever I couldn't keep him. Good breeders care about where their dogs end up.

@kembe - Very True Kembe, here is a link on looking for a responsible breeder. https://bconc.org/finding-breeders-red-flags There are many scammers out there, don't fall for one.. or a person that is not a responsible breeder.
