@tanza it can work if you can set up your home to work with the pup...
But if you can't ? (or find it easier not to)
I don't know if anybody has talked about using this natural amino acid for calming or relaxing a Basenji with no side effects.

Dan, I just checked it out, and it seems interesting. Although Kipawa does not have anxiety, he's not the best with long (5 hr.) car rides. It would be nice to have him more relaxed when we travel south. I'll speak to Kipawa's vet about it.
It also sounds like something that can help stressed out people as well.
Thanks for the link.
I have used L-Theanine from time to time but not this product. I have used chewables that have other vitamins in it-I think B vitamins. I know the products I have bought were less expensive. Make sure the product does not include other ingredients that could cause problems.

Did it help?
I did not think it worked for my elderly rescue but for my young deaf Herding/Spitz mix rescue who had neurological problems I thought it worked well as it certainly calmed her down and helped her focus better which made her easier to train.

The other ingredients could cause issues so I agree with Jennifer, check all ingredients. Research shows l-theanine has some limited effects, but some of the products with it actually increased heart rate and alertness.
