Cell phones occasionally are out of range, run out of batteries. A 2nd number could keep someone from saying forget it and dumping in a shelter.

    martingales- only thing I can use that my boy wont slip out of…that, and if you are used to a choke, this is considered a choke with safety. I am not a fan of collars on all the time due to possible strangulation (i crate my boy)....so I feel the need to put a disclaimer that a martingale does have a "loop on the collar that may catch on something

    This is actually one of our puppies from this year. We aren't going to be showing this one but one of our other puppies. I was only asking the question because I had not seen any marked like this one. Oscar is going to a home as a pet. The sire is "Black Devil of the Congo CLG" and the dam is "Miss Sweetpea of the Congo CLG". The names were not chosen by us so we did not give them "of the Congo"! This puppy has a great disposition, just like his sire.

    Otis doesn't wear his at home either only if on a lead..safety is key.

    @Jarodkjv: Since someone is always home with the dogs a better choice may be the Playsafe collar, it is designed for daycare type settings. It won't open by itself but it has velcro tabs that can be pulled open easily even if the dogs are tangled up. The advantage would be that you could use it to hold them without worrying about it accidently opening. But it's not really designed to have a leash hooked to it so you would have to put a regular collar on them if you were going to take them out. That looks like a great alternative and I do think I'll give them a try. Although the dogs wear regular collars in the house, we always use martingales or sporn harnesses when we walk them. I found the website interesting and was fascinated by the dog cold weather gear. Don't need it here but it was still fascinating.     this reminds me of a story.. my best friends mom was taking her dog (rhodesian ridgeback mix who is less than a year old) and her brothers dog (a 1-2 year old yellow lab) on a walk in a field behind the house off lead. and the two dogs were running around and ran straight into her knee.. and she couldnt put weight on it and used my best friends crutches ( shes a soccer player and has lots of knee problems and surgeries) that were laying around.. that was thanksgiving break.. during christmas.. she went to the doctors and her leg was BROKEN!
