Fanconi Testing

  • Both Blaze's sire and dam tested Clear for Fanconi.

Is there any reason then that I should then test Blaze? I certainly have no problem with ordering the test and taking the cheek swab, but just wondered if it was necessary.

    Thanks.

First of all for reseach purposes you should, the more data we have the more that can be learned.

Until the direct gene is found, it is recommended that you test because there is no accepted "clear by parentage".

  • Thanks, Pat. That was what I was wondering…if, for research purposes, and a larger database, it might not be a good idea.

I'll order the test once we're back in Spokane.

  • The more data that is in the data base, the better people can use the that information as this is a Linkage test only… and errors can be made either human or test....
