I have gotten in the habit to wash Kaisers feet after every walk since his skin problems which also helps to pick up on anything he may have walked on like glass, weed spray etc but you just don't think about a street grate, so sad for the dog and what a terrible thing to witness for the owner. I think the dogs must be seen individually, our Chaffie is looking "normal to thin" I don't like completely thin. Buana, looks much heavier BUT you can feel his ribs as good as Chaffies ribs. If I post a picture of Buana, you would say, he have to loose (some) weight. But if you feel him, he should not loose much more weight. A picture is nice for a small opinion but you have to see them for the complete opinion. From the first pictures, I really don't like the very thin dogs. And I totally agree, people are so used to fat dogs! If a dog is really too fat, nobody will speak up in the street (I can't resist telling the owners :) ), but when we walked our Podenco (really not to thin) everybody had something to say…

@Knipper: They have an elastic that goes around the base of the tail. I'll admit, at first I thought it was attached by going in. I can't imagine one of those staying intact for long on any basenji. Blaze would shred it, dispurse it around the house, then pee on something of mine for revenge. I thought that at first too, and I was horrified!! Took me a moment to realize it had elastic string. Mine would rip that off immediately. I don't even know if I'd be able to get it all the way on.

I saw this show for the first time last night. I didn't think it was sad, because the nice doggy gets adopted into a home where the people have been evaluated and dog is placed with people who are best suited for the individual dog. It's like a reality game and they all know only one home gets the dog. The people know they might not get that dog. But I'm glad that the people who don't win on the show, will probably adopt and rescue another well deserving dog. Just my take . . . but I only saw the one show.
