New Champion…

Basenji Showing
  • I just wanted to let everyone know, that Ochre is now known as Australian Champion Wazazi High Expectations, (subject to ANKC approval, of course :D). She achieved this by going Challenge Bitch, then Best Of Breed, as well…

She is the first champion of her Mother, Ch Wazazi Awesome Beauty, (Electra...), and the first Ch in the litter :). She was very capably handled by my daughter Olivia, who at 14 years of age, is enjoying showing the dogs. She has really only been in the ring for the last 12 months, and also handles our young ACD, Nosh, on occasions, as well. She also shows a friends CKCS, and occasionally another friends Pug as well. I am proud of them both :):):)

  • Great news way to go I also am proud for you.

Congratulations! On a side note: I work on tracking with Oakley to help mentally stimulate him; granted its only for fun but he likes it ( for awhile)…

@saba: We have this award here in Australia. Obviously it works in a different manner, but it was intraduced for exactly the same reason the AKC is introducing it… I.E. To encourage the better dogs of the breed to remain in the ring. Actually, the GC in AKC shows has nothing to do with quality. It is solely for the revenue it can possibly generate. Quite frankly, I think it is rubbish. A dog can get a GC having NEVER won a Best of Breed! Seriously… if the dog is that good, it should at least win some BOBs. No, it may not be a dog being campaigned, but why should they get a higher title without attaining something golden ??? As it is, if a class dog wins breed, they can't count those points towards the GC, as they aren't yet finished. I agree with Lisa... why spend y money as point fodder for someone campaigning and wanting the numbers of rankings? Might as well use that money on me or my dogs elsewhere!

@lvoss: The International shows are the ones that give written evaluations. Though the UKC judges that I have shown to have been pretty approachable and willing to share what they see in a dog. UKC also has a pretty cool Juniors Program where kids can start as young as, I think, 3 years old with their parent in the ring with them as they show their dog. I would highly recommend giving them a try and it is even better if you can go with a friend. Ethan would LOVE that!
