@Buddys: Hi Kosuzu! I am replying with just my own experience. I only know a little about the local club I visited. There were no mixed breeds, all sight hounds, and a few hounds, the ridgbacks were real popular in the club, and one either needed papers to prove breed, (i never did get the akc papers promised by the previous owner) or I was told if my boy really looked obvious then he could compete. I am not interested in ribbons or placement really (but running the fastest time is exciting!) First Uzie would go against juniors in a class to ensure no aggression during the run of 750yards. Then go against the others in a duo and trio run. But things won't start up til it gets cooler here in Florida. I have a mini lure courser. It is ok, have to make sure the line doesn't get back washed on the spool though. here is a link, but if you can afford a bigger self winding machine-or get one made….then I think it is better then having to wind it up after each run of 150feet http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7nqKp3rQ78&NR=1&feature=endscreen There are others out there too: http://wickedcoursing.com/products.html Good Luck! have fun!!! Thanks for the info and the link. I am thinking of getting the Lure Baby from Wicked Coursing. The only thing I have to consider is that the States has 110volt and Australia has 240volt. I think I need some kind of power converter and plug adapter. I will do some more research on that.

Thanks DolceMomma, yes my mom is up and running around. She fell and banged her knee and at first it was fine but then it swelled up. She is 86 years old and doing fine. She was having trouble learning to use crutches and was too active. I was afraid she might fall again and that is why I stayed home. Jennifer

She certainly looks whacked after her great Seaside Adventure!

Lovely pictures. It's good to seeing him looking so happy after his ordeal with GSD. The wound looks to be healing well.

@Basenjimamma: funny.. Webcams are a blessing but I also think that before the cams we ventured more on a limb as supposed to take the comfort road and stay in if the weather looks iffy. The dogs probably don't care one way or another, pending rain of course.. I do go up there when it's foggy only I know how to dress or at least take a jacket. In the summer it's usually about 58-61 degrees with the fog.

Now we do have the time to spent time with the dogs on the beach. The main tourist season is over and the beaches, at least if you know where to go, are empty as far as your eyes can see. This is Basenji-Fun-Season ;-) They have so much fun charging the doves and running just for joy. Regards, Esther
