• We have just returned from the NSW Specialty… Entry of 122 Basenjis, for Dr Opara, from Poland, I think :D...

Im VERY proud of my kids results, and their behavour, (both 2 and 4 leggeds ;))...

Firstly Ochre was 2nd in the Statebred bitch class, (aged over 6 months, and bred in NSW, as she was), she showed well, despite 2 stupid birds deciding to land in the ring, just as she was lined up in the race, and she was the first dog in the ring, (and the only one to spot the silly things !!!), in her class :D.. She was very distracted, and she can move better than she did...

Vanda was also a little distracted as well, (read... sick to death of being cooped up in the crates, so just a bit playful !!!) but she still showed well, also for 2nd in the junior bitch class, (aged between 9 and 18 months of age)...

    Now for Mr Java...

Well after being quite difficult to show train, (read... completely unco-ordinated, ridiculously disinterested, not responding to ANY food I tried, nor toys etc, etc), he showed like a little pro !!! Helen Veless, from Afrikenji Basenji's, (Helen is the owner of Java's sire, Gr Ch Afrikenji Hot Sumaknight, AKA "Sunny") showed him for me, and she is a superb handler, who worked soooo well with him... (Thank you Helen :)...). Java was awarded 5th in the Baby Puppy dog class, (Baby Puppies are shown here in Australia, aged between 3-6 months of age), from a class of 22. He was the youngest baby puppy shown, as well... He is our first Basenji bred by us under our Basenji prefix, LANGARNI... To say that we were OVER the moon, just doesnt describe it at all... It was his first show too :).

Java's sister, Diamond, was also shown in the Baby Puppy bitch class, and while she wasnt placed, (in a class of 17), she showed beautifully for her first time Basenji owner, (previously showed French Bulldogs) :D. It was lovely to finally be able to meet Lyndsay, and both he and Diamond were besotted with each other... Soooo wonderful to see...

So Im more than happy with my 'kids' :)...

Then on the Sunday we had the 3 entered in the Spitz Show, as well. Only 26 Basenjis entered here, unfortunately...

Ochre was placed 3rd in the Intermediate bitch class, (aged between 18-36 months of age), so happy with that.

Vanda was 1st in the Junior bitch class, so I was very happy with that...

Java was 1st in the Baby Dog Class, out of 3, shown for the very first time by my daughter Olivia, who had about 3 minutes to practice with him, cos I 'chickened out' just before we went in ⭕o:o... It was a very close decision between the baby bitch winner, and Java, for the Baby of breed winner, and the lovely bitch just pipped him... Oh well, I didnt mind, Olivia and Java worked very nicely together...

Then under the same breed judge, we had Java entered in the 3-6 months Sweepestakes against all the other Spitz babies... Out of a class of 15 Spitz babies Java was awarded 3rd, again being the youngest baby exhibited, this time shown by my other daughter Imogen, who showed him beautifully as well :D...

So thats a very long winded rundown of my 'kidlets' weekend away ;)... The dogs were sooooooo well behaved at the Motel we stayed at for the 3 nights, not a sound from any of them at all. This Motel had a pub attached so there was a lot of noise, and much coming and going, and there wasnt a peep from the 12 Basenjis who stayed there at all :p :p :p...

Have taken lots of pics, so will put some up, once we have sifted through them all...

Forgot to add, that "Sunny" was second in the Sire/Progeny class as well, with both Java and Diamond there to represent Dad... Helen was over the mooon for this win as well...

  • Congratulations to all of the dogs and your daughters, sounds like they had a wonderful time. Good size entries too!

My Rufus was a little 'B' when he was in puppy (still can be if he feels like it) we entertained everybody with his antics, it does get better!
