Podengo Puppy Groupies

    I was at a dog show yesterday and today doing some meet the breed and judges hands on activities with the Podengos. It was also a good time to look over rally and agility and let them see the big Podengo. Today I went and my daughter and her puppy as well as another puppy (I do have a few LOL) went too - we were around the vendors when this lady shreeked. "Oh my God its the Flower Puppies!" She turned to the ladies around her - to the vendors near by and announced - "you have to see this youtube video - just type in puppies and flowers and you will get it - it is so funny you'll just die." (I think it's cute but not quite to that extreme)
    For the next hour as we were trying to get 2 puppies walking in the same direction - while being stopped by other dogs, kids and adults we would from time to time be treated by her yelling out again - "see they are still here" to another bunch of folks that she would bring over to meet the 'flower puppies'. It was too funny - she was not a dog show person but obviously likes dogs and for her to recognize them was too funny. I thought she would ask for an autograph!

    I am sorry about your flowers but the puppies are great. This was great to see it was funny I loved it. How many do you have left??

    I love it, to me it is so sweet and funny. I love your comments. Thanks you so much for sharing. We are still thinking hard about a puppy..my husband is almost won over..he actually is playing with the thought more then I am.. the podengos fascinate him.

    Podengo temperament - first as I said before they have a softer temperament than basenjis - harsh corrections result in a dog that will melt into the ground. The Medio size (keeping in mind I do not live with this size) needs to be kept busy - they are active and appear to do well when there is some pretty physical exercise and brain activity for them. Lure coursing, agility, even rally can keep them happy and focused. A couple of foks are going to try them at fly ball. All sizes like to hunt and must always be behind a fence or on a leash. I find that the Grande (BIGS) are a bit more laid back. They love to run, they will catch bunnies and birds on the fly and in Portugal they run down boar and stag. Their preference appears to be investigating their enviroment for any changes and sleeping on the couch. If you think of primitive hounds of the Mediteranian Basin - you get what a Podengo looks like and how they are. Similar to Ibizan, Pharoh Hound, Cirneci, basenjis etc. The little size - pequeno is a breed apart - it is smaller 8-12 inches and is not a bred down big it is longer than tall and is a rabbit hunter in thick brush.     These little fatties are doing sooooooo well. Im used to ACD babies losing weight in the first couple of days, then gaining, doubling their weight around day 10ish… Not with these guys, no weight loss, all have doubled their weight by day 6 :eek:... Mumma Crystal doesnt even look like she has a lot of milk at all, clearly what she does have is pretty damn good though !!! Its interesting that for this litter I didnt feed Crystal puppy food at all during her pregnancy, as I have done for all my previous litters, and the pups were good weights at birth, and are now gaining so well ;)... Certainly food for thought, (pardon the pun :D)...

    It was a treat watching those pups in action so thanks for sharing this video link with others also. Like to say I have few French Bulldog puppies and they have demonstrated to be very pleasing for children and elderly sue to their friendly nature and smooth temperament.

    @dmcarty: There is I guess someone else in the WI area with 3 from Jean behl that wanted to know what was happening show wise.     I just don't get it! He is allowed to keep 500 dogs??? What is with that??? What an awful person to make those dogs live like that. I so hope the dogs are able to be rehomed. Poor little things.
