Chocolate Chip Cookies

Off Topic

  • Has anyone got a good recipe for Choc Chip Cookies? My husband wants to make a batch and use our Basenji Cookie cutter. He usually make basenji shortbread but thought choch chip would be good. Maybe a nice American recipe??!!;)

Sorry Maybe should have said HUMAN RECIPE not for dog consumption!!!

  • This is a great chocolate chip recipe, but I don't know how well it would work with a cookie cutter….makes delicious cookies though!

1.) In a bowl, soften 1 cup (2 sticks) of butter or margarine.
2.) Add 3/4 cup brown sugar
3.) Add 1/4 cup regular white sugar
4.) Add one small box of instant vanilla pudding (I use sugar-free, 1 oz box)
    5.) Add 2 eggs
6.) Add 1 tsp. vanilla extract
7.) Add 1 tsp. salt and 1 tsp. baking soda
    8.) Add 2 1/4 cup flour
9.) Add one bag of chocolate chips

Bake at 350 on ungreased cookie sheets, approximately 10-12 min or until done :)

These are excellent...and you can mix it up by using different types of pudding/chips. For example, chocolate pudding and butterscotch chips is great...have fun!

Wow, I have never had choc.chip cookies with pudding in'em before, I have got to try these ones out on my kiddos. Thanks for the recipe.

  • Have fun, its a great recipe, they get all puffy and chewy, everyone here loves them :)

  • Good luck with the recipe but I hope we are still going to get our lovely shortbread treats at NBS?!

  • Doin't worry, you'll get your shortbread. :D

@kembe - Very True Kembe, here is a link on looking for a responsible breeder. https://bconc.org/finding-breeders-red-flags There are many scammers out there, don't fall for one.. or a person that is not a responsible breeder.

@sanjibasenji Thanks for the article on Dog Genome Project - I found it very interesting. I was trying to figure out the interactive Genome wheel. It has the basenji closely related to the Azawakh and rat terrier but I’m still trying to figure out the first wheel which has the basenji listed w/ black/grey starting point. As far as the PBS Dog Tales video - it’s very interesting - it’s season 47 episode 2 - I highly recommend you watch the whole thing (54 minutes).

If it's commercially made chocolate, they'd have to eat a lot to get sick. If it's 'real' chocolate, a little amount can be sufficient to really make them sick. Commercial chocolate is a lot of fake stuff.
