Basenji Pedigree Database-IMPORTANT

Basenji Talk
  • If your dog is not listed in the Basenji Pedigree Database, please e-mail Sally Wallis at sally.wallis@btopenworld.com. It is especially important for your dog to be listed if your dog is registered with a non-AKC registry or non-registered. There is no way to find out any information on these dogs from the non-AKC registries as they do not have an open database like the AKC does. Please give Sally the name, DOB, sex, color, registration number, registry and sire and dam's information of your dog. If you have a pedigree for your dog, give the grandparent's information also. If your dog was bred give the information about the breeding partner and the puppies if they are not listed. If your dog has been medically diagnosed with Fanconi but has not been DNA Fanconi tested, give her that information also.

If your dog has been DNA Fanconi tested I believe Sally will not have the information to match up your dog's result if your dog is not listed in the database. Sally puts all the DNA Fanconi results in the database.

If you want to see an example of non-AKC registered Bs in the database, look up Jen's or Surprise and you will see my rescues. Not all of them are officially registered with the non-AKC registries but some did have a registration number.

I am looking for information about some non-AKC registered Bs that are not in the database.

    Thanks,

    Jennifer

Thank you very much Pat ! It was a bit hair-raising. I wanted to be sure it was an easy transition so phoned the Server. The man I spoke to was adamant. No, I would not have to make any changes, yes Google would update it, yes everything would be easy. . . Why did I believe him ? First thing were all kinds of 'DANGER !' messages and emails from people who could not get to the site from Google. I managed to get to it in the end, but nothing worked - so I thought carefully and realised I needed to change links in all the scripts which run the program. There are dozens of them. Then I chickened out, didn't dare upload the new scripts so I called my computer guru who came over a couple of hours later, checked my work (and found a load more to do. . . ) and we opened a couple of cans of beer, held our breath and uploaded the scripts. Phew ! It all worked fine, but now how to get the change publicised - I don't do FaceBook. Luckily lots of helpful people are putting the new address about, and hopefully Google will find it soon.

I read your blog and find it kind of confusing and ….. your comment about "messing with ..." hmmmmmmm.... Anyhow, yes, it is so cool when you come across another basenji, because they totally understand each other and how they want to play. We were fortunate once to have another basenji play chase with Kipawa at a dog park. I just don't think there are many basenjis in the Lower Mainland. :(

My Basenji Billy is quite undershot; he's a purebred, his bottom jaw just didn't stop growing when it was supposed to. That's okay, I'm a bit of a sucker for a dog with an underbite anyway.:) He was my first rescue Basenji.

@Thana: she does have basenji characteristics then apart from her colours and looks.- i also think she must have some basenji blood! She is lovely and lucky no matter what! adorable little face:))))) Having read about the characteristics I think she does. The lady with the basenji that we met also commented on some of the things she was doing as "very basenji" (eg. standing on her back legs so she could see what was going on). Has a lovely wrinkly forehead too. Got very frustrated with me earlier and did her funny bark, more of a wierd howl really. She is def one of a kind. Its a shame we have to have her spayed (not that I could ever justify letting her have a litter).

OMG, TRUST me…its not only ur baby, Jack has some seporation anxiety, i mean, we rescued him so that may be why, but i Always feel so sad when we leave him, he runs to the window and crys when we leave, but i KNOW it wonly lasts until he cant see us anymore (driving away) my neighbor watched for me. but SOMETIMES he does get into things when we leave for too long. like the other day, when he ate my betta fish food...grr...
