Hi everyone!

  • I just recently found this forum through friends and I thought I'd check it out immediately!

I'm Sofie and I live in Sweden just outside Stockholm. I have Basenjis and Pharaoh Hounds and together with my mom I breed mainly Pharaoh Hounds under the prefix Enigma. We have our first litter of Basenji right now!

We show a lot in conformation but we also do lure coursing and oval track racing.

I look forward to get to know you all! :)

  • Greeting from Poland:)

  • WELCOME!!…how cool that you do lure coursing & track racing. Can we see pictures of your dogs???

Yes, I posted a few photos in the showcase section and you can also see them in my website listed in the profile. Thanks for the welcome!

Thank you! I am very proud of him :p

  • Your Paris & Harley are BEAUTIFUL!!! It looks like my little boy C3PO and your Paris are family :) Avongara Imba Tena is his great grandfather!

  • Hi Enigma and welcome. Can't wait to check out your doggie pictures! :D

  • Welcome to the forum! Your dogs (both breeds) are beautiful. Paris looks much like my Joey. Are Pharaoh much like basenjis in temperament?

Well the basenji and the Pharaoh are alike in many ways, but the Pharaohs does not have as much "temperament" as the basenjis does. Ususally they are a bit easier to raise also but they are bigger and they get stronger… I love both my breeds and they go great together!

I have a couple of relatives as well. Avongara Imba Tena is the father of two of our dogs…...when's the family reunion?:D

@DebraDownSouth: I am so happy to sign in and see you post! Especially with the wonderful pictures and videos. Both of our first basenjis do that to your HAIR when it's wet. I am going to try a wash cloth and see! I am glad your husband is doing better. Well hello Debra! It made me smile to see your post - I always enjoyed your comments, whether popular or not, because they were YOUR honest comments. :) I'm a huge fan of honesty. We are all doing quite well here - still in the Vancouver, BC Canada suburbs. Kipawa is thriving, and he is a big part of our lives. Yes, you should do a video of your basenjis going wild with a wash cloth. My hair is longer and thick, so I think I have to keep Kipawa out of it when it's wet. ;) As every year goes by it seems I lose a major chunk of my memory. Are you still in the 'south'? Was it Georgia? And your basenjis' names - forgive me, I can't remember them. Boy do I love getting older, NOT!

I'm sure Terri has been super busy taking care of all the newborns and everything, but I'm really happy to know they've arrived! Can't wait to see them all! :) :) :)

Welcome Angelilca! I'm the "mommy" of a B girl with Fanconi, also. I really encourage you to join the fanconi yahoo group. It's a GREAT resource! I have learned so much just from reading the posts of people with current issues and the experienced fanconi dog owners' replies. Also, they keep a list on the website of vets that are known to be knowledgable about the disease and are willing to communicate with Dr. Gonto (who wrote the protocol) directly when needed - because not all are. The list is by state and you can find it on the site under "files". http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/fanconidogs/ Good luck with everything and keep us posted! Sadie
